@@TheCDGuyJZ Got to hear it finally, I love it, killer tone throughout and some fine solos, some that rival his best from Pink Floyd. I agree with the 9 rating.

'Scattered' made the strongest impression on me. Other strong cuts are: 'A Single Spark' (particularly the last half), 'Between Two Points', 'Sings', and "The Piper's Call', which still holds up after a few months. Gilmour managed to stay clear of his 'smokey lounge-style' music, yet still infuse some vestiges of that style in a couple of tracks.

That's a great point. This whole album was incredibly well done. Couldn't have picked a better way to close the album than Scattered... great song!

Saw David live in Rome last night. Oh my god. Besides being an excellent and emotional performance, I’d say two (maybe three) of the five best songs of the night were from the new album. Pipers calls and dark velvet nights were incredible in the second set. Scattered was as good live as I had hoped. Romany Gilmour was a natural on stage and the two songs she sang were excellent, her singing added a whole new feel for the concert. That being said when I first heard the album I rated it 3/5 now after this show it’s and easy 4.5. Top 6 songs of the night no order: Sorrow, fat old sun, dark velvet nights, pipers call, wish you were here, high hopes

I saw some of the clips online… looked like an incredible show! Awesome that you were there! Romany has great stage presence for sure. I wasn’t sure what to expect since David said he wouldn’t be doing a lot of Floyd songs written by Roger, but this Setlist was spectacular.
@augustgeary5538Ай бұрын
@@TheCDGuyJZ agreed. I wish what do you want from me was in there like in 2016 but that’s the only thing I would have changed. The songs he selected flowed perfectly. I was worried about his voice going in and it was a bit rough at the start, especially during time. But then he hit a gear around fat old sun and it got much better. In the second set he even did two extended sections of just his voice with no instruments, nice way to shut up any haters who just saw a clip from the start. The whole show was a religious experience, i don’t think a guitar can ever sound better than that. People all around me were weeping

@@augustgeary5538 Love What Do You Want From Me! One of my favorites from the post Waters era of Floyd... would've been cool to hear live for sure! His guitar and vocals are angelic sounding no doubt.

I have been listening to and attending their concerts starting with the Animals tour, and there is nothing that will compare when they were together period in producing music. This new David Gilmore album for the most part, can easily be confused with a generic Ambient sound album. Granted he is almost 80, but that is my take on it
@TheCDGuyJZ2 ай бұрын
The biggest issue I have (even though I love the album) is that the lyrics are weak at times… David needed Roger’s lyrics and Roger needed David’s guitar to make Floyd work. However, I think this is some of his strongest guitar work in decades.

41 minutes long, including the 2 singles that were already released. The lyrics and song titles are cringe. "Dark and velvet nights" 🤮🤮🤮🤮 What you said about the lyrics is spot on. But they are so bad it means you can't give it a 9! Nepotism is driving his career these days unfortunately.
@TheCDGuyJZ2 ай бұрын
The thing with the lyrics is that we already knew what Polly Samson's lyrical abilities were. Some of the topics on here are interesting coming from a 78 year old Gilmour, but I don't feel like the lyrics are the main focus of the record. I mainly enjoy this album for the stellar guitar work and atmosphere it creates.
@markrigg66232 ай бұрын
@TheCDGuyJZ Regarding what the main focus is , David makes a clear statement on that very thing. He says " Its Polly's record as much as it is mine". At least he's honest I guess. And yes, we already knew what Polly's lyrical abilities were. BUT DAVID DOES NOT KNOW STILL......🫣🫣🫣🤮🤮🤮
