I 100% agree with this. Its one thing to have a bad movie, its another thing having a bad movie in a new reboot trilogy and then quit or be fired midway through leaving everything up in the air.

I agree with your sentiment on the loser mentality. With that being said DGG was 100% fired and did not quit. “Mutual parting of ways” or “stepping away to focus on other projects” is Hollywood speak for I got fired, but the studio is letting me save face by pretending I’m leaving on my own volition.

@Born2BeRad: U make some very valid points here. They should just get 2 different directors with their own unique vision to close out the last 2. They've done it with The Conjuring films so that would work. When John Carpenter himself was quoted in a recent interview about this last movie he said "How can you mess that up?", that is not good and so it doesn't bode too well for the next films. The original is pretty much a self-contained movie and no one should ever have gone near it ever again. It should never have been turned into a franchise like its looked upon today. Even Friedkin thought the films that followed was a mistake and never paid attention to them. Although I am a fan of the Paul Schrader prequel, that was a slight exception. Blumhouse just took something on they thought they could do like the Halloween trilogy but that's a totally different vibe.

I agree with you but its an opinion based on integrity. They don't care about the stories anymore. It's 100% money for them. The next one seems like a guaranteed bomb. I'd be surprised if they actually made it.

Then they should find someone who could make it better. DGG was a dumb choice from the get go. The reaction Halloween ends got. People wernt excited for this From the get go. This is exactly why Hollywood hasn’t had any true movies that will stand the test of time in a long time. Halloween was always gonna make money. You put someone w a better track Record behind Deciever would prob put more butts in seats.

The Asylum Exorcists was actually better than the last Exorcist.... the movie was fine until the point where he was given the book (to introduce Ellen from the original) then its like the director skipped town. You could clearly see the shift in the movie at that point. Then having mulitple religions to fight the evil? That was a terrible woke idea... Catholics are the only ones with the background to do them. Get the guy that made Two Witches to do it that was a rare treat to see.

@@Born2BeRad I agree. I do wish DGG would finish the trilogy though. It usually feels so disjointed when different writers and directors pick up where someone left off. DEXTER is a solid example of that. But either way … I want to see it completed.

While I couldn't care less about this story continuing, I totally agree with the sentiment here, man. I'm so tired of franchises that won't stick to continuity and just reboot every time the rotten tomatoes score isn't high enough. The Terminator franchise is probably the worst offender. Honestly, sometimes committing to continuity can make movies better in retrospect when looking at the whole story. Just looked what's happened to the Star Wars prequels.

Based on what I read I believe DGG dropped out of Deceiver due to some other work commitments, not because of how poorly received Believer was. I think he of all people is unaffected by that kind of thing after his experience directing the Halloween trilogy and all of the hate he got for it overall. I wish he would have stayed on for the sequel and just pushed back the release date, that way we could have his consistent vision across all 3 movies. That being said, if they can find a really good director with a great vision and a love for horror then I think the sequel could still be good, depending on where they go with the story! Also, I was never a fan of him signing up to make a trilogy from the very beginning, I think it's way too presumptuous that the first movie will be good/a success and it's also just way too much to take on at one time. It didn't work very well with his Halloween trilogy and I don't know why they thought it was necessary or that it would work better with his Exorcist trilogy.
