I think this is an amazing video - why don’t other artists do this? It’s so simple and it helps us learn these songs and keep them “alive” - and, it doesn’t do anything but encourage people to learn and appreciate the songs. I'm an Australian and first came across this song on the In Flight Entertainment on a British Airways flight from Tel Aviv to London. Had never heard of David Gray before that and I can remember pressing repeat about 20 times. 5 years on and I can still remember the feelings I felt as I listened to this emotional ballad.

This is fuckin awesome. Im learning this. 4 years after writing this comment i eventually bought an electric piano. I can now play this song. Im not 100% fluent yet. But im almost there. I am really enjoying learning the piano, i find it very challenging, but i do the work and i pracrice practice practice, and can see a big improvement in my playing. I am playing more loose and fluid, and dont need to watch my hands as much as i did. This is a fantastic song to learn, and is one of the first songs i learned. White ladder is an album my wife and i used to play when we first started going out together. Great album. And this is a fantastic song. Cheers for the lesson brother.

After my father died in 2019 my Mom had to sell their house and she couldn’t take my Grandmothers piano, which she acquire from a bar in NJ. I grew up with this piano, but never played it seriously or took lessons due to other interest. I’ve been playing the guitar for 21 years now and at 48, I’ve had the piano for about 5 years and have been inspired to at least play one song. Although I came to his page to learn one or more of his guitar songs, it may just be this one that gets me cracking on the keys. Thanks to David for the additional inspiration.

One of the 1st David gray songs i learnt on my piano. Just wish it wasnt broken so i could play it over the xmas hols. It was playing his songs too loud that did it as usual, 2nd time ive had a mad one and blown it playing these great songs. Almost certain it wont be the last time. Then press the notes with both your hands at exactly the times it indicates in the sheet music. The legendary book is 'The AB Guide to Music Theory Vol 1', couple of quid on Amazon - but there's plenty tutorials online also.
