2024 !! who is still listening to this masterpiece ??

I'm a great and longterm David Gray fanatic... I will listen ever and ever again...

I've been coming back to this song for about 10 - 15 years. It's absolutely beautiful. Call me an optimist but to me, while this song feels to be about a gut wrenching breakup, I'm always struck by the hopefulness David weaved into the song. It's one of the few songs that makes me want to cry and smile at the same time.

I am glad you wrote that. I personally think it is the greatest song ever written, which I openly admit is a bold statement. But I can't think of a song I would rank above it personally. I too cry every time I hear it. So powerful.

This song makes me cry. The depth to which you can love a woman is so immense, profound, irrational, intense and sometimes even beyond understanding or comprehension that when it ends, the pain is so bad you could literally be inconsolable or worse. The only thing that could possibly hurt more might be the knowledge that you could have prevented it but you didn't for whatever reason if any. I can tell this guy knows love that true and powerful I can feel it in his voice. When anyone loses love like that it hurts my soul because I know what it is like. My friends Grandparents were happily married for 65 years. Tragically she died from a heart attack. Less than 2 weeks later he walked into the ocean and that was it. So love has costs and it is nothing to take lightly. If you truly love someone tell them often, treat them that way and pray to God that you should never lose them!
