This was my wedding song in 2003. My spouse passed away in 2006 and when I hear this song I picture his handsome face and smile. It brings me back and is painful but yet comforting. He had a rare cancer and passed at 32 years young. Today would have been my husbands 48th birthday and I thought I would listen to this song with our 16 year old son.

Beautiful; reminds me of Dad. When I was at my older sister's wedding this June and she did her father daughter dance with my dad, to a country song she chose, I thought to myself what would I choose? And I decided most likely David Grays Babylon because that song sticks out from my childhood with my father, but this is an amazing choice too. I just remember growing up listening to this man's unique voice and the way it made me feel so light and free. I also contemplated maybe Tracy Chapman's Fast Car.... I went to my first concert at Wolf Trap with my dad, we saw Tracy Chapman. We snuck in McDonald's cheeseburgers in our back pack. Ah, what a lovely time. I was about 10 or 11 years old. Thanks dad.

This is such a beautiful song. Listening to it takes me to bittersweet memories of both of my mom and dad who are no longer with me. I miss them both so much. Not a day goes by that I don't cry for them. They say that the pain goes away but it's a lie. It never does. My dad died early this year and I was not ready to let him go. God knows how hard I fight to keep him alive but in the end God had a better plan for him. It just hurts me soo much that I can't see him anymore. Tell him that I love him and give him daily hugs. My heart is so broken.

Sail away with me honey I put my heart in your hands Sail away with me honey now, now, now Sail away with me What will be will be I want to hold you now, now, now Crazy skies all wild above me now Winter howling at my face And everything I held so dear Disappeared without a trace Oh all the times I've tasted love Never knew quite what I had Little darling if you hear me now Never needed you so bad Spinning 'round inside my head Sail away with me honey I put my heart in your hands Sail away with me honey now, now, now Sail away with me What will be will be I want to hold you now, now, now I've been talking drunken gibberish Falling in and out of bars Trying to get some explanation here For the way some people are How did it ever come so far? Sail away with me honey I put my heart in your hands Sail away with me honey now, now, now Sail away with me What will be will be I want to hold you now, now, now Sail away with me honey I put my heart in your hands Sail away with me honey now, now, now Sail away with me What will be will be I want to hold you now, now, now Sail away with me honey I put my heart in your hands It'd break me up if you pulled me down, whoa Sail away with me What will be will be I want to hold you now, now, now

This is what Music should be! Lyrics that take your mind away or towards whatever emotion/memory your feeling needs to be explored! For me a man of 28 who lost his father when I was 11 and mother to cancer 2 days before my 21st... they both used this in there times of happiness and when feeling sad! I use it in the same manor to help with certain memories and emotions! David Gray will be in my life!

I'm 16 and I appreciate this music so much. I have heard it through my Dad and find it incredible. All my friends go off and listen to their modern music that I don't really like, however each to their own. This music is absolutely phenomenal and I love to listen to the older bands also like Pink Floyd. The closest modern artist have come to this greatness is through Ben Howard and Bon Iver. I recommend you to listen to a few of their songs each.
@pepsifire73618 жыл бұрын
I'm also 16 and hated his music when I was little. I will always have the question in my head to why I hated his music. My Mom always played this song during dinner and I'd say "turn it off, its terrible".But now I got over 40 of his songs on my IPod to listen to when I feel like calming down or relaxing. A true Legend he is.

Where have you been all these years
@lisawegner31928 жыл бұрын
I rarely post; as I do not use a moniker. My youtube profile is my name. One September I lost my job, I had to end a relationship of four years and my very old cat was consumed by coyotes. It was a life learning curve. I took an escape journey and ended up at Quadra Island. Riding down a tight road with wildlife - a bald eagle flew so close to me I could hear the wind of its wings - and making my path towards Kwagiulth Museum and Cultural Center, I settled by the waves. I had my little iPod. And I had my bike. And I had many tears. The repeat on my music was David Gray. It could have been anything else, but that particular music brought me solace. And most importantly, acceptance. Every expression of anything written could be a personal metaphor for those who read or listen to it. David Gray's music happened to work me through grief. It is only recently I have started listening to his voice and words again. And I will forever be grateful. And I will always remember the waves on the rocks at that special place.

His health was suffering and it looks as though nature spared me the agony of having to make the decision of when to have him put down.
