David Hull hauling a three log load with 1972 Kenworth

This video was taken on a very cold and wet November 29, 2016. David and Carole Hull had contracted with local loggers Trees R Us Logging and Construction, Inc. of Cheshire, Oregon to do a first entry thin on a 38 year old stand of Douglas Fir. This job was an 8 acre unit on the tree Farm's 300 acre Home Place. This job was located just across the west side of the canyon from the Valley of The Giants way in the back. This is a unit that David harvested himself in the late summer of 1984 and had replanted with two year old Doug Fir in the winter 1984/85. It is now a beautiful stand of timber. The unit had several sorts in cluding: the saw logs to Seneca Noti, chip and saw to Seneca Eugene, and pulp to Fibre Marketing in Philomath, Oregon. Trees R Us do a fine job thinning and we would recommend them for any type of harvest job. A year ago a large Douglas Fir blew down on the outskirts of this thinning unit. On this day Gary Borland is using Trees R Us's 738 Thunderbird log loader to load the old bucked up fir onto David Hull's 1972 Kenworth log truck with matching 1972 Peerless trailer. The old 1972 KW features a Big Cam 400 Cummins, Spicer 6 & 4, two speed rear-ends, Peerless trailer and bunk equipment with Williams air scales. Once Gary got David's truck loaded he hauled this load not very far down the road to our cousin, Todd Nystrom's Hull Oakes Lumber Co. saw mill. David Hull is semi-retired now and the old yellow Kenworth (also retired now) is only used when picture loads are hauled (it is worth mentioning that I shot this video only two weeks before our fearless patriarch turns 63 years old Happy Birthday David Hull). So on this date it was worth getting the old truck muddy to haul this very nice three log load. David has hauled logs from this unit twice now.....Not very many land owners have that distinction.
