Imagine the life he’s lived. He was essentially a super hero in the 70s and 80s. He must be looking back after his partner in crime has passed. I bet he thought those days would last forever. In spite of all the drama, Dave and VH will leave a faultless legacy of great rock n roll music.

@Margaret McEvoy For Alex's Band. The uncalled hero is Michael Anthony ... Alex, Ed, and David had 'strong characters' that very likely will never do something together for a long time by the difference or divergences of 'aesthetic' criteria --- David was the 'character' that connected the brothers into the Local Bands Circuit in a histrionic and ambitious form that was not 'The Rock Star standards for those times' ... Alex and Eddie were always more 'Musicians' and maybe, taking David Histrionic Temperament with a Bit of Cynism ... but the thing was that David is extrovert, a Great Sales Man, 'Crazy' but Funny, visual-oriented ... and in their beginnings the guy with 'money' , PA and the will to bring Alex's band to any house party and local club for playing ... What was the role of Mike?? To compensate for the underlying leadership conflicts between Alex and David by been submitted to all of them and never making a persistent coalition with all of them for bullying the other one ... In VH Roth era there were 2 poles and a catalyzer, Alex + ED pole, David Pole, and Mike as the catalyzed ... without David, Alex's Band will never being called Van Halen ... and without Mike: Alex and David will not stay in the same Tour bus more than a month ... On VH Hagar era, Just 2 poles ... Alex + Ed pole and Mike and Sammy Pole ... where Alex + Ed worked as The Headmaster from the Legacy of the Van Roth Era ... and Sammy and Mike just, her new employees apportioning their required 'contribution' to 'Alex's Band' ... After Sammy was fired ... and fucked more Mike's creative rights and economic royalties over the band repertoire, and performances ... Cherone's failed affair for all the audiences ... It was not weird that Mikey becomes unnecessary for Alex and Ed ... Paradoxically, without Mike, that band would never exist as it was ...

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to see Van Halen play the classics while I still could! You entertained the hell outta me and Ed inspired me for the rest of my life!
@Tiberius_Productions4 жыл бұрын
Let me be square with you. No they weren’t close friends, but they were allies at one time and until Ed couldn’t. They wouldn’t have played together for 2 decades or more if they didn’t have some kind of mutual respect for each other. They weren’t friends, but they both wanted to be, they just aren’t the same types of people. Roth has an ego and Eddie had one as well, but they were happy to share the stage together and in my books that means they admired each other a great deal considering they were collaborators of each others careers lol. And with that bond between musical partners comes a kind of respect that goes beyond the ramifications of friendship. It’s understanding your musical chemistry, and that knowledge comes with the choice of whether chemistry is worth making a career path with them or not. And in Roth’s case, Ed chose to do it in the early 70’s, and he did again in 2006, and he trusted that instinct all the way through until he passed. Yeah, I would say they had a pretty big amount of respect for each other, and enough to warrant considering Ed’s death a loss for Roth. Unless you’ve had a great musical bond with another musician before, you’ll likely never understand where I’m coming from. Maybe you just don’t like Roth as a singer, and that’s fine, but Ed let him stick around because he respected Roth, and that’s just a plain fact lol. And Roth respected Ed more than one might think considering he worked with many other great guitarists over the years and still considered Ed one of the greatest guitarists ever. That’s quite a lot of respect from a guy as egotistical as Roth.

Eddie’s passing has hit me pretty hard, he has always been my favorite guitarist. It’s really been a somber time, 2020 has been a tough year. I never got to meet him but I saw VH in concert 11 different times in 4 different states over the years. - 7 times with David Lee Roth and 4 times with Sammy Hagar. Back in the days of General admission tickets, we would show up early and get front row. At the end of the Women and children first or the Fair warning tour concert Eddie reached over and handed me a guitar pick. I have it in our safe deposit box along with all my concert ticket stubs. I’m very grateful to have those memories of seeing VH in concert! Once after one of the concerts, we were waiting outside the backstage door and we saw Valerie Bertinelli with Eddie. We were probably 10 or 12 feet away but didn’t get to meet them, security kept everyone back. Even though there was only twenty or twenty five people there. Rest In Peace Edward Van Halen, you were one of a kind!

I did also, I had my daughter with me she was nine months old and I wanted to ask him if I could take a picture of them together. I didn't even have to ask. As soon as he saw her he opened his arms and took her from me and played with her while I snapped pictures. It was back before digital cameras, so later that day I dropped the film off for one hour developing and waited impatiently. An hour later I went back to get the pictures praying to God that they came out good, I opened the envelope and I swear I couldn't believe what I saw. These were probably the best pictures ever taken with a 35 mm camera. There's one where she's basically chewing on the autograph he gave her another one just as she pulled his hat off his head and a bunch where he's just sitting with her holding her and smiling. He was fucking awesome with her. She's 23 now, and it was her that came into my room that morning with tears in her eyes and told me he was gone. He was definitely a class act, and as far as I'm concerned Dave just showed us that he is too ✌️

Such a touching tribute to Eddie, I got a little teary eyes listening to it. Dave, Eddie, Alex and Michael put out the best music of their time and they were such a kick ass band. I never got to see the original lineup but to anyone who saw them live in the 70-80’s, consider yourselves the lucky ones and cherish those memories the rest of your lives. R.I.P. Eddie.

Mr. David Lee Roth only gets better with age Saw you and the brothers first in 1983 I was a young kid..but then i grew up we all did ..saw Van Halen perform throughout my life 80s, 90's 2000's but the best was when I took my Son to see you and the boys a few years back in Jacksonville. Thanks Dave...you are one of the highlights of my life...

Wow!!! This song is so perfect for him ,he was the master of the strip back in the Gazzarri daze,only Dave can give us this brand of nostalgia. And kudos to John 5 who can play so many styles of music and gets to showcase more of his mellow ,folk and even country side more than he can w zombie.

My mom and I got chills listening to this. She asked me why David has laid low about Eddies death and hasn’t said much yet? I said I didn’t know maybe they were really not close as was always said in the news, but I said I hope Dave comes out and says something but he did something even better by dedicating a song to him to show he loved Eddie deep down inside and misses his musical brother. I’m so happy he cares and so is my mom. We both love Dave and Eddie. I bet Dave took it the hardest besides Alex because of how much they had in common, but sadly it’s hard to coexist when 2 people are so similar. My father and I were like that before he died. But I took my dads death the hardest probably like Dave would realizing what we love and not love about someone is exactly who we are as well so it hurts to say goodbye to someone with the same traits as you have. That hurts a lot. They butted heads a lot but when it was great, man Dave and Eddie couldn’t be beat. It was magical. My mom and I are very happy David is taking the high road and being emotional instead of egotistical which ultimately what broke up this band. The song isn’t half bad either and knowing it’s for Eddie who was the man we will all except it and respect ✊ And love ❤️ David for being classy and caring. I’m sorry David Eddie is gone. We all are. You could not help but love him. My favorite band of all time especially with Roth and life and music won’t be the same without Eddie around. We love you Van Halen and thank you for so many years of incredible memories and music. “There’s a little bit of Van Halen in all of us, and we are just here to bring it out of you” -David Lee Roth ❤️👍🏻🤘🏼🎸🎤

@The Ostgard that’s a very intelligent way of looking at it and knowing Dave and Sammy very true. Just like when Sammy totally threw Eddie under the bus in his book because he desperately needed the money because without Van Halen he’s a nobody not that Roth had the best solo career either, however, as you stated at least Dave didn’t expose Eddies drug problems like l Sammy did just to get money. Did Eddie ever get any residual pay for getting exposed and buried alive by Sammy in his book? Shit, the guy is supposedly your friend had a problem he should have helped him not trash him in a book to get money so I’m not surprised he tried to promote his new album which will probably suck puke dick. So not cool. Eddie just passed away it’s not the time to for that. The entire planet is mourning especially my mom she’s freakin devastated man. She loves both Dave and Eddie. I won’t even tell her Sammy did that. Very well said and informative. I didn’t know Sammy did that. To many egos killed that band it’s sad but now is not the time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts it’s how we all cope and get through on here conversing with each other. Thank you and at least we have tons of Van Halen footage to go back be happy about enjoy their genius . 🤘🏼
