He stopped the slave trade -- he had many achievements there. And, his wife and children were with him for many many many years. It's not like he left his wife and kids in favor of missionary work in the bush.

Didn't you hear what the guy said? "He singlehandedly saved an entire continent." That's pretty impressive. Think of how bad Africa would be if it wasn't for Dr. Livingston? This was more than just one man exploring Africa. It was the saving of an entire continent. Bringing light to darkest Africa.

He was just an explorer not a missionnary! Forget about christianity in this! I am from where he spent muchof his time.

Crazy if you claim to really be a Christian, that one white guy saved a continent. The reality is Christ, not Livingston.
@user-vw6bk4pb4l Жыл бұрын
Exactly. The Church is so Eurocentric it's unbelievable. How many people did David Livingstone convert to Christianity? Practically zero. His own fellow travellers and explorers mocked him for this.
@labulldog5 Жыл бұрын
Well, I think the idea is Livingstone was the first to expose the horrors of slavery to Britain, ultimately ending in the outlaw of the practice worldwide.

Colonial masters uesd 'bible and gun ',slavery,ivory ,all this evil acts only one oerson who stopped by DR. David Livingstone cause he love and peace .sorry he showed love and peace not like colonial master did .
@satishpatel52606 жыл бұрын
As colonial master used 'gun and bible '.
@sunilchacko98744 жыл бұрын
Colonial masters were only able to conquer with the help of the local kings or tribal leaders. The Missionaries like Livingstone were able to reach with Bible because of the trading ships. "British Empire" was interested in business and not in converts to Christianity. There is a big difference between the two.

Plz stop this ....Livingston opened up the heart of Africa for slavery, misery...plz be logical...the world has changed....European themselves admit the wrongs their forefathers did...
@minkilotter4 жыл бұрын
@@habibmohana9142 Slavery was abolished in the English world, before Livingston came to Africa. It was still practised by Arabs during his travels in Africa and by tribes in Africa...judging by your first name you have some Arab influence and your ancestors were holders of slaves
@user-vw6bk4pb4l Жыл бұрын
@@minkilotter Some African Kingdoms were slave trading, but in this region, the vast majority weren't. David Livingstone didn't even convert anyone to Christianity. In fact, I wonder if he reported on his fellow Europeans in South Africa, owning slaves and importing "indentured servants" from the slave traders of Zanzibar, and as far as India, Madagascar and Indonesia. The European Church was a powerful tool in opening up Africa for colonisation. Europeans then colonised Africa and made the natives third-class citizens. Our forefathers had to fight off colonialism merely 1-3 generations ago, simply for the right to basic human dignity. Many early missionaries aided in European imperialism, by teaching Africans a whitewashed Eurocentric version of Christianity. i.e Missionary Francois Coillard endorsed a treaty that tricked the King of Barotseland to sell off his entire kingdom to Cecil Rhodes BSA company, under the guise of official British Protection. No white man has or will ever "save" Africa. You aren't any better. Only God saves. Christ is God's gift, not that of Europe or any European missionary. Christianity is not a European religion. David Livingstone did absolutely nothing for Africa.

Africa was the last continent on earth to outlaw slavery (Mauritania and other countries) and Livingstone was one of the first abolitionists. And they only did so due to pressure and blockades from the europeans and americans😅. But they don’t teach this in american schools because it doesn’t fit “the narrative.”
