David Lynch 1993 Kenworth K100E

David Lynch has worked in the waste game around Canberra for 28 years. A few years ago, he and his wife, felt they wanted to buy a vehicle to do some travelling in, but they weren’t sure what kind of vehicle would suit them. So, two years ago, when they came across this 1993 Kenworth K100E at the wreckers, they decided to buy it and restore it to their own requirements to tow the caravan, rather than go down the traditional 4WD/caravan route. It had originally been owned by Ray Singleton who purchased it new in 1993 to join his fleet of trucks and work the Adelaide to Perth run with doubles and road trains. David has always been into the old trucks, along with his family, most notably his father who restores them, so, the thought of restoring this truck did not pose any issues. These days, it is used purely for towing the van. The 460hp Cummins N14 engine (with its original huge number of kilometres on the clock) that was in it when David bought it, has remained, as has the 18-speed Roadranger 46,000lb diffs sitting on airbags. After its restoration, it ticks along nicely, doing 1,450rpm @ 100km/hour, with its total weight coming to about 14-tonne with the box on the back for storage and the 1,000 litre water tank, and towing the van. Still sporting its original paintwork and colour scheme, it certainly turns a few heads as they travel along the highway.
