Kyabram Mack Muster Part 2

In this episode of TruckStop we continue our visit to the Kyabram Mack Muster:
Allstone Quarries from Bendigo in Victoria, celebrated 50 years in business last year. Co-owner, Wes Bird, who says that their fleet is predominantly Macks with a few Volvos, brought along six of the company’s trucks to display at the muster. Although it was secondhand at the time, the 1977 R600 in the centre is the first Mack that Wes’ father bought for the business which he used to move their mobile crushing plant throughout Victoria and New South Wales.
On the right is their 1982 V8 Super-Liner which started its working life as a Joe Bromage fuel truck. After 30 years of service with Cleary Bros as a concrete pumper, this 1983 Mack MCR 8x4 found itself in private hands in Victoria. The local work that it saw meant that speed was not a top priority. It has a 237hp Mack engine, 10-speed Maxitorque transmission, and a diff ratio of about 5.6:1.
We also caught up with Phillip Lamb about his 1981 Mack. Originally built for Dennis Ashard of Forster, NSW, this 1981 Mack Cruise-Liner, with its 350hp engine coupled to a 12-speed transmission, now has an easier life with Phillip, who gave it a good clean up just over two years ago.
