Sergio was impressive as a fighter, dude won the equivalent of the ultimate fighter, and then went on to become a world champion. He is just as impressive as a boxing analyst. I remember Alfonso Gomez taking about how smart Sergio was, outside of the ring. Chris Mannix only has perspective because he’s been around guys like Sergio for a good time. I’ll give Mannix credit for knowing who is and owning it, and that’s just a guy who has a platform to share his opinion on boxing. Controversy sales and he knows it, he’s going to be a modern day Larry Merchant. He wouldn’t have a platform without Sergio, no other former champion would have the patience to stick with Mannix.

Respekt sergio moras career as a fighter but his takes sometimes are mad they arent small and average at lwh the champions are 6ft and thats the average height at lhw most of the contenders are too. These guys still have the size advantage. But the punch resistance of the fighters at a higher wc is higher they also punch harder it takes a fight to get used to it which they both had. Then, instead of fighting one of the other 3 champions at the division before Canelo could between 2020 and 2021, he decided to fight C-Level 160lbers at 68 until he signed his 3-fight deal at the end of 2022, that ran until the Gvozdyk fight at 75 in which he purposefully blew the scheduled date to order the fight between him and Canelo at 68. Because he fought piss-poor competition while Canelo was Undisputing the division, he missed out on opportunities to grow his own profile, which is why he has no legacy of his own to sell to the fans and why Canelo isn't incentivized to fight him..... Unless he's FORCED To, which is why that mandatory order would have helped him and why it made no sense for him to move up. Questions answered?

It’s a risk for both cuz this is a 50/50 fight … Benavidez lacks power at 175, he has poor defense, so he gets hit alot, he lacks fluidity and movement, he stands in front for to long and he’s not really in control of his emotions in the ring… I think this may prove true against Morrell, he let Morrell get into his head at the presser ESPECIALLY when Morrell talked in Spanish, he was tongue tied and pissed off… Morrell lacks experience and I haven’t seen enough of his fights to know what his weaknesses are… I’m going for the underdog!
