How many people can you name that can lay on a couch and sing as clearly as if they were in a studio? This is PURE TALENT.

This is such a beautiful song. This takes me back to an experience I have long wished I could have had wit my father, who passed away at the end of 2022 from ALS. I wanted to just sit with him at the top of a mountain looking out over a town, and just talk... man to man. I'd want to learn about life, learn about his struggles and his past... but we never had that opportunity. I know he's in Heaven looking down on me and encouraging me to live my life, but to those out there who still have their parents alive and in their lives... treasure that. Don't take it for granted. Savor these moments and make memories.

No clue how I have missed this song by David. I love the sound of a million dreams and redlight but somehow never heard this until today. Amazing talent and great song.

David has a wonderful voice, and so serious. I didn't realize he had so many songs. He has been left out of the obvious bright lights that he deserves.

Couldn’t agree more. He deserves so much more recognition for this kind of talent. Few contemporary country singers come close - maybe none in my opinion.

one of the lesser known songs of David Nail. actually there isn't even one of his songs not recognized by every ear. those ears just don't know what they're missing, through no fault of his own.. that's what happens when record companies have more power than the artists when there's contract disputes, the artist always loses..... but so do the people that just love great music that they might never get to hear. thank Mercury Records for the reason David is not already a super star. screw you Mercury, he'll get there on his own one day. till then, let me keep playing y'all some and sharing it.....

Half Mile Hill Eight years old Standing on top With the world below Me and my dad Talking man to man Suitcase packed, he was moving out Said, "It's no one's fault but I had my doubts And I have them still" Up on Half-Mile-Hill You can see the ball fields Watch the cars go 'round the courthouse See the sun go down where the street lamps glow On those checkerboard roads Wishing I could fly like a cut-string kite Tapping on the floor of heaven Is anybody listening? Half-Mile-Hill, seventeen Tailing the summer, Angie and me Kicking beer cans off the side One last time She was wildcat tough, I was scare-crow thin We were thick as thieves 'til the bitter end Trying to make time stand still Upon Half-Mile-Hill You can see the ball fields Watch the cars go 'round the courthouse See the sun go down where the street lamps glow On those checkerboard roads Wishing I could fly like a cut-string kite Tapping on the floor of heaven Is anybody listening? Hey all, you lovers and leavers, stuck in-betweeners Loners and stoners, old drunks and dreamers Rumbling and stumbling, always looking for something Past that no trespassing sign You can see the ball fields Watch the cars go 'round the courthouse See the sun go down where the street lamps glow On those checkerboard roads Wishing I could fly like a cut-string kite Tapping on the floor of heaven Tapping on the floor of heaven Is anybody listening? (Anybody listening?) Up on Half Mile Hill Is anybody listening? (Anybody listening?)
