His films are sensitive, emotionally raw and personal, and those are the best kind of films.

Great director who has really hit his stride. He has now made three great films in a row....The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook, & American Hustle. All three excellent and hugely entertaining movies that are currently rated on Rotten Tomatoes at 91%, 92%, and 93% respectively.

Its so nice to here a film director say that he didn't know he wanted to make films until his twenties or something. You always here film directors become intersted in films from like 6 or 7, experimenting with little super 8 mm cameras. Theres nothing wrong with that, it seems very pure and dedicated, but it makes me feel like I can't become an influential film maker like them becuase film has only really impacted me the past few years. Put your mind to something, you'll be it :)

James Cameron didn't makes his first movie until he was in his late 20s...and that was a bag of shit, but look what he went on to do. Don't follow fashion, follow passion! That's how you'll stand out. This guy I particularly can't take serious, he just loves the sound of his own voice too much and is very pretentious.

Put your feet on the floor and go from the gut, don't over think things. Keep it lean and make it count. Women are underwritten in films. Get in the game, stay in the game. Find the key that you can sing in. - David O. Russell ...some great advice, for life and film-making.

It's been 9 years, and he said he'd learned a lot after making Huckabees. I hate how people still give him shit for that and the George Clooney ordeal because they don't represent him as a person or a director. In reality, he's a good guy who invests a lot of time, effort and emotion into his work, which really shows in the great movies he makes.

It doesn't sound silly. I've no doubt he didn't behave that way with her or anyone else on the set of that film, especially DeNiro, who would have absolutely either walked off the set and left the film, or made it known to production that he wouldn't work with someone who was behaving that way. And the producers WOULD HAVE listened. He would either have been fired or told in no uncertain terms to tone it down.

I know this might sound silly, but I honestly don't think Jennifer Lawrence would like him so sincerely and talk about him so effusively if he had done something like that on Silver Linings Playbook. Plus, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and Robert DeNiro have all signed p to work with him again, so it seems very likely he has at least pulled it together in the last couple years. I'm glad Clooney stood up to him when he lashed out physically at a crew member though; that's inexcusable.
@dzanier11 жыл бұрын
So what you're saying is that he no longer behaves that way? Can you confirm that he no longer abuses crews on sets? I will admit that those episodes don't necessarily define him as a person, but unjustified anger or meanness towards others in the pursuit of making a great film isn't an excuse. I hope that time and good sense have mellowed him out.

Cristof Rowlando I hate to break this to you but while he is a great filmmaker, he's a cold, rude, and disrespectful human being. He verbally abused his cast and crew, including Lily Tomlin and Amy Adams. I will never work with this guy.
@dzanier11 жыл бұрын
It's also possible that they respect him so much as a director that they're willing to deal with a certain amount of "abuse". I don't mean abuse in the strict sense, but he's the kind of guy who makes no bones about the fact that something isn't right and the actor has to get it together. As professionals, they probably appreciate that because they want to reach that level he's talking about. I'm glad Clooney stood up to him too.

David O. Russell and Paul Thomas Anderson should write and direct a movie together! I wonder what the plot would be like and what kind of movie it would be...Drama, Crime, Mystery, Thriller?
