Join Academy Award™-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and Oscar™ nominated director-writer-producer David O. Russell when they talk with Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times Op-Ed columnist Maureen Dowd about their creative collaboration - from “American Hustle” and “Silver Linings Playbook” to their new movie “Joy.” Like Russell’s previous films, “Joy,” which also stars Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper, defies genre to tell a story of family, loyalty and love.

Jen is a lady, look at the way she's sitting. Her back straight up, puffed chest, confidence without taking herself too seriously. Her poise is admirable (one of her many qualities), she looks statuesque and fashionable while appearing intellectual. That sleek bob is something. I love her personality and roles. David and Jen are a match made in cinematic heaven. Please keep it up. Love from a Venezuelan cinephile

Jennifer is ridiculously charming here. Am i the only one who thought the interviewer shouldn't have brought up very personal questions involving a crime in front of an audience? I felt bad for Jennifer for having to answer questions about break up etc.

I think David O Russell was really looking out for Jen towards the end of this interview. He quickly changed the subject of her personal romance to the movie again when she got uncomfortable. (:

The interviewer is really bad, she was successful at making me uncomfortable the entire time. what's with the questions she was asking Jennifer ? were too personal and really not necessary to ask. Also, most of the stuff she asked about were stories already been told before and kept saying " you said you said", she should've at least summarized the entire thing or asked about the situation instead of re-telling the whole story again and waiting for them to fill in.

+JustinHenryfan actually I find this interviewer refreshingly normal, as if one of us " normal folks " got the chance to chat with these two at our kitchen table. . BUT I wish more people would ask questions similar to James Lipton using bernadre Pivoit questionaires.

Douglas Eden I disagree. It's incredibly rude to drag these actors and directors through these ridiculous press campaigns, answering and overanalyzing every question and aspect of (making) the film and then you don't even bother hiring professional journalists? And that journalist doesn't even bother to prepare for this interview? This was uncomfortably awkward to watch

כרם וייס Jennifer and Chris dated, yes. And then broke up. And this interview was shot afterwards, so it was incredibly distasteful of the journalist to bring his name up...

I want to give credits to the interviewer. Her questions connect work from JL and DOR to real issues. She must not be a professional host who knows how to entertain. But her questions bring out answers that reveal how relevant the film and these two talented people are. She does her job much better than many other hosts that do nothing more than bringing people heatless laughs. JL does interrupt her before she even gets to the better part of her questions though.

+yalinchi maureen dowd used to write a column in the new york times op/ed section. she might still have the column, i stopped reading the nyt years ago for reasons i won't go into. maureen is not used to interviewing because she's a columnist. she sucks at interviewing and i hope they never let her do it again.

@Sefton Cookie I can't say I know for sure, because I don't know her, but she and my cousin have the same personality type. They are performers, make people laugh with their verbal diarrhea and are not intellectuals. They even watch the same awful tv shows. How can someone who watches the kardashians, real housewives and all that other shit try to pass themselves off as smarter than they are?

@@CC-mr5xq Jennifer's intelligence is evident in her ability to immediately recognise and understand peoples characteristics and make up. Her watching all those reality shows for normal people you may suggest are mind numbing but in Jennifer's case she is going into deep analysis that she will use in her acting..her brilliance beyond normal people. She is super smart her mind is racing far ahead of most!

Who the FUCK did the subtitles? Someone needs to walk a plank over that fiasco. David O. Russell says, @ 11:12, "Jennifer's true answer is that she, she said her blessing ..." is subtitled as "jennifer's transistors that she she said her blessing..." Um, radio components ?!?

I can fill Jennifer in on PART of the pictures but no autographs phenomenon . . You see these kids , ( like my 16 yr old ) have never even learned cursive writing . . Iowa City schools teaches keyboarding in pre school and from day one all writing is on digital formats and the old kids who use a writing utensil are the very young when they color with crayons. . . . They show no value in hand written greeting cards, notes, autographs etc etc because the writing itself is foreign to them. .

Oh dear. I read the interviewer Maureen Dowd's pieces on the NY Times with interest (though not always agree with what she writes), but this interview has definitely lowered my opinion of her. Totally the wrong choice to speak to an actress and director of their standing. How can a person be such a good writer, but totally lack the ability to hold a conversation? It's as if she asked a question so that she could have the time to focus on formulating the next one.

She was incredibly nervous something that is quite visible here and it's also not uncommon that a writer lacks public speaking skill... Yes of course there are writers who have that marvellous confidence but some don't and she was clearly out of her depth here so it's understandable.....:)
