David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez & More Honored at Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame Ceremony

For the first time, the Red Sox Hall of Fame induction ceremony and the presentation of the “Fenway Honors” awards for charitable achievements were held on the field at Fenway Park. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Red Sox Foundation, which is celebrating its 20 years of impact in the New England community this year.
The 2020 Red Sox Hall of Fame inductees include Hall of Famer David Ortiz and former Red Sox players Manny Ramirez, Rich Gedman, and the late Bill Dinneen. Former Red Sox General Manager Dan Duquette is the non-uniformed inductee. The Red Sox’ first World Series win in 86 years on October 27, 2004 has been selected as the “Memorable Red Sox Moment.” The induction ceremony of the 2020 Red Sox Hall of Fame class was originally scheduled to take place in 2020 and was postponed until this year due to the pandemic.
In addition to Red Sox Hall of Fame inductions, the event included the 2020 and 2022 presentation of the Fenway Honors awards, a biennial Red Sox Foundation recognition of businesses and individual leaders for their charitable achievements in the community. Boston Beer Company and Liz and Phill Gross were selected as the 2020 honorees, and CVS Health and former Bank of America Vice Chair Anne Finucane were selected as the 2022 honorees.

All the great players I love: Dewey, Nomar, Pedro, Wake, Tek, PD, and Papi. But, my first love on the Sox was Rich Gedman. In '85, I got to spend the summer in NH with my family, working my first summer job. What a great time for my family to teach me about baseball. '86 was incredible!! When Geddy was learning to catch, he referred to himself as a "real clang master". He is a persistent, yet humble human being. This whole broadcast made me smile. Thank you Dan for building an inclusive club that believed they could win. Thank you Manny, Pedro and Papi!! Thank you to my hubby for loving me while he waited for his Cubs to finally win the Big Show, with a bunch of Red Sox. Someday I will get back to Fenway. Thanks again Geddy.

A bit saddened by the lack of Manny love. Don't get me wrong, Pedro and Papi are two all-timers, but anyone over 35 years old who has closely followed baseball for two plus decades would agree; Manny is one of the best right handed hitters of all time. Regardless of any quirks or allegations, dude has an all-time great swing and is the type of hitter with the type of swing that every right hand batter should aspire to mimic. Dude raked!
