Robinson is one of the classiest and most humble players ever to step on the court. A perfect role model for today’s generation! He often gets overlooked by Shaq, Ewing and Hakeem. Respect to the Admiral- one of the greatest big men in the 90’s!

He was my role model. I learnt the sax cos I saw he played one on a basketball card. Saw that he went to church which made it a little more ok that my parents dragged me along every Sunday. I still have my David Robinson card collection from the 6th grade and even today decades later I have a framed memorabilia on my wall that was given to me by old work colleagues cos they knew what a fan I was. The BEST role model a young lad could have!

David Robinson has always been one of my favorite players but being from San Antonio I was fortunate enough to always see him a lot because his son was always playing at tournaments my teams were and even at movie theaters and other places. I never approached him cause it seemed weird (kind of regret lol) but I always remember he would make a little time for fans before he left a venue so shout out to the Admiral for being a great player and great man. 210 loves ya Dave!

I wonder how big of a impact David Robinson had on the culture of the Spurs. When i think of the Spurs in the 2000s i think of a team putting values and culture above anything. Now surely they made mistakes but thats what made me a Spurs fan. I have the feeling Robinsons impact has been huge.

This is a really good point. I always think about Pop and Tim setting that culture, but I bet Robinson had a lot to do with it as well. He was honestly such a huge part of the Spurs being successful, not only winning two championships, but all the years leading up to it. He kept us from being in the dregs of the NBA.

Olajuwon went to the Admirals house to pick up his MVP trophy after the 1995 WCF series. Dream destroyed the Admiral in that series averaging 35 points. Not even Rodman could do anything to help out on defense. Took him to school. The reason they don't hand out MVP trophies during the conference finals.
