That Rudisha holds 10 of the 20 best times in 800M is just incredible. He is indeed the G.O.A.T.

Greatest distance race of all time I’d say. Probably not the greatest track race simply because the last decade there have been some amazing 100-200 races on the women’s and men’s sides, but definitely top 3. Andrew Osagie got last with 1:43.7 which would’ve won gold at the last 3 olympics

Why did David Rudisha choose the risky strategy of leading all the way instead of staying with the pack?
@rovingrangerr6 жыл бұрын
It might seem risky to an outsider, but it suits him well. As a backstory, Rudisha prior to his success ran with the pack and would try to win with his kick, but it never really paid dividends. So he discussed his tactics with his coach Brother Colm and changed it to frontrunning. This was detailed in a KZbin documentary about him. The rest is history as they say.
@TotalRunningProductions6 жыл бұрын
Exactly! His strategy of running to the front and gaping the field has really served him well.

another American did this with Hichem el G, the miler, saying he was the greatest ever. Very biased. Rudisha is great, but Peter Snell also won 2 Olympics 800m golds and 1500m gold and set 800m world record abnd mile wold records and Seb Coe won Olympic 1500m twice and 800m twice and broke the 800m world record twice and held it for 18 years and he set 1500m, mile and 1000m world records. 12 WR in total. ALbert Jurantorena set a WR in 800m Olympics and won the 400m, in 1976.

@Reina De corazones you are a fan of Rudisha, but you don't know what you are talking about Reina.
@mathematics55736 жыл бұрын
@Reina De corazones He is world record holder and his London Olympci won was extrodinary. but many runners I know, agree that Peter Snell, Seb Coe and I'd include Albert Jurantorena, are the 3 other 800m greats. Seb Coe coiuld have challenged or beaten Rudisha and Snell as well. When Rudisha won in London, the commentators mentioned Peter Snell, as he also won 2 800m golds. Only Snell and Rudisha have ever won 2 Olympic 800m golds. Seb Coe set world records at 1000, 1500m and 1 mile as well.
@mathematics55736 жыл бұрын
@Reina De corazones Look Seb Coes races up on tube and Peter Snells. You will see how fast and what brilliant racers they were. Maybe you are young and haven't heard of these guys.
@mathematics55736 жыл бұрын
@Reina De corazones but they could have run faster. the times they ran are what they aimed for. I have heard Seb Coe and other former world records holders, say they could have run faster. They were aiming for certain times in their eras. maybe that is what makes them different from the rest of us. Please stop arguing. You are young and are not correct on this.How old are you? 20 somthing?
@mathematics55736 жыл бұрын
@Reina De corazones I met David Hemery the 400m hurdler who won the olympics in a world record in 1968. And I have met Steve Ovett, the former miler who set 6 mile world records in 1980 and won 800m Olympic gold and I met Steve Cram who won olympic 1500m silver in 1984 but set world records at 1500mm, 1 mile and 2000m in 1985. I watched all these people on TV growing. They have all said that they could have broken the current world records, they would have just trained harder. done more speed work and done more long endurance stuff. So you must be convinced that they are all wrong. They are all cver very special runners. Few are like them. They are exceptional runners, who had exceptional ability and concentration. Does this satisfy you?

Bolt ran three races and won three gold medals in awesome style. Just because he made it look easy does not mean he was just good. He was absolutely magnificent -- far more magnificent than David Rhodesia, who ran only one race. I disagree with the comment supposedly made by Sebastian Coe. To do what Bolt did at the 2008 Olympics is no easy feat running against the greatest sprinters on the planet. Oh please! I love Rhodesia and love his mannerisms, but I would not put a man who runs only one race magnificently above another man who runs three races magnificently. That kind of logic is skewed.
