Taken from a 70's Detroit public access TV appearance. Who on earth is this band?! So raw and so good. Watch the note he holds forever towards the end... where is the rest of this footage?

In My most humble opinion David Ruffin Is The Best Male Vocalist, ever. My God That note that he hit at 3:14-3:28 is amazing, that is a Ruffin Signature HOWL. Eddie.K as always, cool and laid back. But RUFF signs his name on your heart and soul as Smokey Robinson once said of him; one feels RUFFIN.

So SICK that all I can do is only shake my head with my eyes all squinted.............MAN!!!!!!!! This Guy was No Joke. And it is so funny to me (if anyone has noticed) that after he hits that note he looks down and over his shoulder as though he just shroughs the fact right off that he hit that note,..... like it was nothing. His Facial and body expression said: "O that scream that is nothing I was only yawning.....I DO THIS!!!"........

Is that Pretty Tony from "The MACK" on The Bass?.......MAN!!!!! to think Ruffin smoked and drinked for years and he never ever lost a peice of his raw and extraordinary vocals. Making money with the Temps and then after only supported his habits and all the while his vocals only got "RAWER!!!".....In the 80's till his depature to the other side he only polished and smoothed out the grit in his vocals, while still never loosing his gritt......Hence, Ruffin had God given Talent and ability, and no matter what he did the Creator of man loved him so much Ruffin never lost it, he only got better and no one since him or after him has had a voice of PURE GENIUS blessed upon them as he did.,,,,,GOD loved Ruffin.

I will never forget being part of the rhythm of a room full of our people dancing in the 70's. It was magical! And as a drummer/lead singer myself in those times, I speak the truth! Also....a lot of people who are now in their mid-40's (including my 3 offspring), were conceived the nights when these people in the videos went home.......or to the closest motel....or in cars 😎👍 .Much respect. Charisma was a 5 piece singing band, as teens..(the trumpeter/2nd tenor, on the far right, was just 16), in the 70's, from Newark, NJ, who played our own instruments - in which I wrote, sang lead, & played drums (I'm standing 2nd from the left). The attached song is "Don't Act Surprised", which has over 4 million KZbin views, and is on all streaming sites (Amazon, Apple, Spotify, Sirius, KZbin Music, etc). Copyright 1977, David Dawkins dawk110@gmail.com Hit me up...I enjoy talking with fans. kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2SviHd4eseCarM Peace, & please share 😎😎

Well I think David is the better performer than Eddie. David was more extroverted than Eddie on the stage. Eddie had a laid back style where I don't think he liked to dance much. As for looks, to each is own. Beauty in the eye of the beholder. I do agree that their singing styles are complete opposite and can't be compared. I think Eddie had the best counter tenor I have ever heard that will never be duplicated. It was light, fluid and smooth. I wish both of these men were still around.
