One step closer to getting JM on your podcast. Great interview Rhett.

I’ve been following David Ryan Harris since his Follow For Now days in the early 90’s….this cat can do it all! He’s a true musician in every sense of the word.

I'm a year late to this video but really loved discovering it the other day. I doubt he'd remember me other than vaguely, but I was one of the house sound guys at the Rockfish Palace in Athens, GA and also freelanced all over the region supporting my late friend Herb Guthrie's PA business. Got to see / help support the mighty mighty FFN on their come up, their steps up, and after they broke up, got to play with the other guitarist Chris in my old band (Minority Rules) in Atlanta for the last couple years of our existence. After their record had been recorded remember DRH learning / practicing Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" at soundcheck one night in the basement of a frat house, so damn good. Saw him around town with his next band Brand New Immortals, also saw John Mayer when he came to ATL to begin building his career. Seeing DRH and also Dave the bassist with him on JM's crazy journey is just one of many great memories of that time. Anyone who was in or experienced the ATL / ATH music scene of the late 80s-90s really got an earful of greatness on the regular, whether you were into hard rock / metal or art/college rock or acoustic folk or R&B or hip-hop or _______. Thanks much for this video, RS.

Congrats on a great interview, Rhett. I moved to ATL in 92 just because of DRH and FFN. Started gigging in dives like the Wreck Room and Cotton Club. Great time to be in ATL. We were bursting with creativity and DRH was at the front of the line shoulder to shoulder with Col. Bruce, Otiel, Jimmy, Rich & Chris, and so many others. I think you have an opportunity to start broadening out the scope of this channel to start digging into the ATL scene, past and present. Talking in depth with Dave and Rick about Triclops and the other studios and recordings that were coming out of ATL then and now. Visiting the studios and rooms that make ATL unique. Talking with important players in the scene like Eddie or Alex Cooley. Examining why live music disappeared so quickly in ATL compared to its heights. Who were the important studio players that helped launch ATL as the center of the hiphop/trap universe? Why was Rhythm City so much better than Guitar Center? Dig into AIM and the history of the people that passed through (Jimmy, Tobias, etc.) It could be a great way to break the monotony/burnout you are experiencing and start evolving your brand into music history, cultural shifts & music trends. Just my .02. Always grateful to see new content from you, bro.

I was at that same show at Phillips in 2010 and was on St Patrick’s Day right before I started music school. It was definitely a monumental moment in my music life too, and I’ll never forget that show.

Rhett, if there's one thing you should know is that all of your podcasts are pure gold. You're perfect for that. If you ever need to do something additional to music, serious journalism is a must for you :) Cheers from Poland!

@RhettShullStudios genuine question. Why does the audio version of the pod come out later than the KZbin version? I just prefer to not have YT open and my phone unlocked while I listen. Love the pod man. Thank you for all you do!

I played big venues only twice, but I found that there is a time for me when the audience disappears and there is just the band and the music. Up to that point, I'm a nervous wreck.

Three guitars with a defined space that they occupy? Foo Fighters always seem to come up with three distinctive guitar parts, and they stake out their own piece of “tone turf” thanks to their differing styles and general approach to their playing.
