Love your investigation into David’s toothpaste. I was trying to find out the percentage of hydroxyapatite in their toothpaste and could not find it either. If it is not near 10%, why buy it? 10% is the maximum recommended and I want maximum impact. When I look at products, the first thing I do is check other ingredients, and if anything is not clear or shown, I will not purchase, which is why David lost a customer with me. Something I learned from one of the other toothpaste options on Amazon is the info that “too much” glycerin will coat the teeth so that they do not absorb the hydroxyapatite, but I did not find out more specific info than that. Maybe you could check into it with your resources… It seems all of the toothpaste with hydroxyapatite have glycerin in them so I am at a loss… A number of other toothpastes offer the hydroxyapatite, but they also do not tell the percentage of hydroxyapatite and may want to hide their other ingredients as well. No sale! Just an FYI… Fluoride is an industrial waste product from phosphate mining and has low-grade radiation and is a neurotoxin!! For every ton of phosphates, 5 tons of “fluoride“ are also mined, and need to be disposed of… I stopped using any fluoride in toothpaste years ago and avoid fluoridated water by drinking water from the mountains. There are no filters that can remove fluoride so it is a forever chemical. Most of the world has banned fluoride because of its neurotoxicity… The US is one of the few countries that still allows it, although many parts of the country strongly resist allowing fluoride in their water. Another very sad fact, is that gallon bottles of water with extra fluoride “for baby“ are sold in grocery stores even today and the effect is the reduction of the IQ of the baby! Everybody should avoid fluoride in all forms.

In our family everyone gets their own toothpaste because we don't want to spread germs. Everyone also writes their name on their toothpaste. I purchased this toothpaste just because it has my name on it 🙂 I actually like it too.

🦷In your "how to stop clenching..." video I commented that I was concerned that Davids website does not disclose the hydroxyapatite %, so thanks for getting a (disappointing) response from them.

Yeah they are saying the percentage doesn’t matter so much as the quality and based off lab results their stuff is working better than a lot of others out there so.. 🤷‍♀️

I have been using David's for a couple years. I like it. I like the key they provide to help push the toothpaste out, but I did laugh at the beginning of the video when it just flowed out. Every single time. I have started to make sure when first opening a tube to have my tooth brush handy. I was considering getting a new toothpaste because of its lack of fluoride (that was a minor concern of a dental hygienist friend of mine) but I am pretty sure SFL was casing me to get canker sores and I agree with you that we humans probably get plenty of fluoride. I have used several of the flavors, including the charcoal peppermint. I am no longer going to use that one because I don't think charcoal actually does anything. I will say, for those wanting charcoal, the flavor of their charcoal + peppermint is great. I have also tried the Citrus Mint, but I don't remember it, and I will be going back to the Peppermint flavor on my next reorder. The one thing I wish was a little better was the fact that the tube does tear easily. And yes, while recyclable I have actually never unrolled it and cleaned it out. Although I have a bag about six of them that I hope to some day get too (while wearing protective gloves). Thanks for the video. It helped me make my decision.

Lol I love it. See that’s the problem, just because we have the option to recycle, will we really do it? Just being honest with myself haha.

Which fluoride-free brands do you recommend? I know boka only says they have 2% nano-hydroxyapatite, and david's like you said in the video don't disclose, but is less then the 10% recommended...

@@askahygienist🦷🪥 Dr. Jen provides 10% hydroxyapatite which is the maximum recommended value to use. The lack of transparency on the percentage in David’s toothpaste is why I will not buy it. Providing the percentage is not a big proprietary value… They could be giving 1/2 of 1% and that would still be honest, but a real cheap, considering some of the others tell you. That doesn’t work for me… I want as close to 10% as possible and Dr. Jen provides exactly that and I like her ingredients even better… I purchased Dr. Jen January 2024 for a discounted price of three tubes for $54 which worked out to $18 per tube! The price has gone up to $20 per tube as the lowest price I can find. It’s expensive, but I saw results within a week after my teeth had been yellowing from coffee & tea so it is worth it for me. IF I knew that David was close to 10%, I would purchase it as the cost is 1/2 of Dr. Jen. Some of the other brands are highly elusive about the percentage of hydroxyapatite in their product as well. No sale!

I don’t think I would conclude that the toothpaste itself is causing stain, I have been drinking more tea lately; I just meant that with previous toothpastes I have used, I didn’t notice stain getting worse, rather it was improving. I’ll definitely keep you posted though either way.

I use Oral-B IO series electric toothbrush. David's had the most watery consistency of any toothpaste I have ever bought, it basically turns into a consistency of saliva in few seconds and will not work when trying to brush your upper teeth. Don't know if this is the case with every electric toothbrush. But I do NOT recommend this one to any Oral B users out there.

As a huge dental enthusiast and an RN, I am really turned off by the lack of transparency. Consumers have a right to know the ingredient profile of the products they consume, especially those meant for health and wellness. I will not be buying David’s for this reason.
@askahygienist
@askahygienist 11 ай бұрын
Yeah…I mean on one hand, I understand a smaller company not wanting to disclose their secrets so big companies don’t copy, but on the other hand, I agree I don’t like lack of transparency. That being said, they do provide lab result pictures that show it works, and I know that some of the bigger companies also don’t disclose certain info; people just don’t make a big deal about it because it’s “a trusted brand”

I can understand their reasoning as well, it just doesn’t sit well with me and it’s why I didn’t buy their product when I discovered it about 6 months ago. I used to use Coral Nano Silver toothpaste (mainly their foam) but they went out of business which really made me sad. Then I used Happy Tooth Powder but the lack of foaming or “lasting” effect while brushing turned me off. So I moved onto Dentisse (fluoride free) & Redmonds. The former wasn’t perfect because it was SLS heavy and can make my mouth burn at times, but Redmond also doesn’t have any foaming at all so it seems to disappear quickly while using it. Nothing is hitting every mark for me and I miss the Coral foam! What is your favorite these days?

@@askahygienist thanks! Disheartening that David's does not list potency of the nano hydroxyapatite. I have been using them for a few tubes now, and hydroxyapatite for about a year now. I'm a believer in it. Just ordered Fygg toothpaste a little bit a go, recommend you check it out. It is an oral microbiome friendly toothpaste with both nano and micro hydroxyapatite without any essential oils to not disrupt the oral microbiome.
