Write your Senators and Congressman/woman telling them to introduce a bill to remove MLB's exemption from antitrust laws and labor laws. Then teams and players can sue their asses for arbitrary decisions they make because they cannot be touched. Get the minor leagues pay for all they do.

The minor league farm system in place today will be destroyed if MLB loses its anti-trust exemption. Where the MLB teams develop their young players will cease to exist. Nor will any senators and congressmen from minor league team cities and statesl vote for MLB losing its exemption... Do you really want to destroy baseball with a burnt earth policy? Is Oakland that much better than all of the other major league and minor league baseball team cities that lost their teams?

So you want minor league players to work for next to nothing, not even getting minimum wage for 70 to 100 hours of required activities? You act like it will break them, hint; No it won't. It is a monopoly because it was deemed at the time (1922 and reconfirmed in 1953) necessary, can you say what for? Does it still apply? Come on, educate us about why MLB should have the power to suspend without pay and blacklist a player convicted of nothing (Bauer) while keeping one who was convicted( Ozuna) and is still playing, but they cannot be sued over unjust employment practices. Remember Curt Flood suing over being treated like a slave? Goodbye Reserve Clause or lose that exemption, hello free agency. Just like they cannot be sued for screwing over whole teams and fan bases with no legal repercussions. Is MLB so delicate it cannot compete in a free market it would fall apart? They're going to threaten the wrong team to kiss their ass and they'll refuse and will have enough money to take MLB to court over a hundred year old court decision that no longer is a necessity.

I too am a die hard A’s fan starting in 1971. If MLB allows this to happen, I will stop following them and stop following any thing to do with MLB. The whole this stinks and is horribly damaging to Oakland A’s fans. The A’s fan base extends all to way to the greater East Bay Area and all the to way from Sacramento to Modesto. When the A’s are run like a major league team, a large portion of Northern California supports them. The Giants run has finally come to an end and the time is ripe for a resurgence of the Oakland A’s to be the preeminent team in Northern California!!! Las Vegas will be a great expansion location as the Golden Knights have proven. Please don’t be impatient and let the right path be taken!!!

Unfortunately even when the A's win their division, the A's are in the bottom half of MLB attendance for the season, not the top half for the past two plus decades. A's fans may have had large crowds for playoff games, but not necessarily during the season. Fair weather fans lose their teams whether major league or minor league. If you will only support a winner, well, you don't deserve a MLB team...

What most won't say because it's not politically correct, but MLB - and that includes the owners - do not want Oakland to remain an MLB city. And as another response indicated, after the legislation if MLB refused with the offer of public assistance, other states would likely not bother. MLB wants a public/private partnership. An expansion team has a higher entry fee that won't work for Las Vegas.

The MLB does want to expand soon, they are not waiting for Oakland to get their act together... The A's have been searching for a new stadium for the last two decades, no new stadium was ever built in Northern California for the A's...

The bill in Nevada is specific to the A's and the location of the Tropicana. It cannot be transferred to "an expansion team" years from now. It can't even be used for a site different than the Tropicana. If MLB says "we're sorry. We don't want a team there right now, We'll consider you for expansion in the future" its the end of public / private financing anywhere. That means the owners have to pay the entire tab and they don't want that. Can you imagine trying to convince a government to go through all this again? No way.

They were on the hook for paying off Mt Davis, a move to bring the Raiders from LA to Oakland. The cost was higher than the Coliseum itself. To this day, they’re still paying it off. There’s no way they were able to pay for a whole new stadium paying off that expense.
