I am going to miss him so much. He was always my favorite saxophone player. I have all of his CDs and love his music. He left his beautiful mark on Jazz Fusion,. God Bless You David Sanborn.

I had this album "Double Vision" back in college days. Now I tried playing Maputo in my alto sax. David's distinctive style makes his alto cry in a high pitch, and long notes. He is still at it. Hoping he has more years to go before he quits.

Caught this performance live. Small venue in the middle of Germany, but audience mainly Americans. He did a meet-and-greet after the show and signed autographs. I try to catch all their shows at Montreux and North Sea. The halls that Dave and his band play are always packed.

I heard from a clinician that Sanborn grew up listening to jazz guitar - which is most likely the reason his sound is so bright and unique.

David Sanborn credits Hank Crawford as his biggest influence in his tone and style. Both GIANTS of the alto saxophone!

Hubit01 I agree, his play has deteriorated a bit over the years, happens with age, regardless, still a master.
