as a saxophonist, ive been asked to sound more "west coast", or more "east coast", or more "vintage", or whatever the people were looking for. david sanborn was the definition of the "west coast" sax sound. listen to the tv theme music for " l.a. law", or "the bold and the beautiful", or the movie soundtrack for "lethal weapon" (which was david himself for lethal weapon). but this uniquely bright cutting tone of david's came to be called the "west coast" sound. anyone who can father a whole genre of tone really made their mark.

Amazing live performance, Steve Logan was a great and largely unknown bass player, did some great live concerts with Michael Franks and others. Great band, Ricky Peterson is one of the best live keys guys, Hiram has to be the best guitarist/performer of all time and the drummer is holding down a solid groove here. RIP Steve and Hiram

Thank's, I didn't know who was this fantastic bass player....but I've recognize this typical Musicman bass sound!👍
This is what it sounds like in my head on those days when I think I look really good, and feel really confident!

David Sanborn is one the most amazing musician I had the privilege to discover more than 30 years ago. But please, I'm looking for the title of the song starting at 0:43. I heard that more than 20 years ago and I'm shocked to realize just now that it had disappeared from my mind during all those years.
@carlasprilla10 ай бұрын
Title of the song is “Slam”. It is the opening track of the 1988 album “Close Up”.
