Hiram loved to walk through the audience and dance on the table. :D Once he even left the concert hall and went on playing from outside - totally together with the band. Rest in peace, Hiram, we miss you. ❤

Great times, great band, great tunes. Man I really miss Hiram Bullock. He was such a groovy and skilled guitarist and showman. RIP Hiram!

Hiram really was a pioneer of great blues/rock chops with jazz vocabulary (easy to hear him in guitar players after him in NY and LA). It's really silly how effortless he plays running around that venue. Live clips like this and his Jaco Live in NY Vol. 2 really capture what perhaps some of his recordings only catch glimpses of.

David Sanborn changed my view of the saxophone. When I was a young player, listening to lots of people, practicing everything sounded just good until . . . I heard the Album Port Of Call! That was it! It permeated my soul to never ever leave again! Thank you, David!

For me it was the album Hideaway, I played sax from age 10 with aspirations of maybe taking it my career. David Sanborn helped me understand how completely inadequate my skills were. But I still love him.

Wow!!! I got chills at the very end! I've listened to this song 100 times since it came out on Sandborn's "Straight to the Heart" album. Then, I watched the Black and White video of that recording 20 times, loving every time. But.....THIS VIDEO BLEW ME AWAY! Everything about it, from David's great sax playing, Hiram and Steve's duet dancing with their guitars, and of course, Hiram's incredible solo, including how he plays with the audience, his animated faces, his one-handed playing, his stroll through the audience, and the finale with David and the band. I literally got chills. Thanks for posting this video. I'm only sad I didn't see it years ago. RIP Hiram.

To be honest: I didn't dislike this song, but I do prefer the bands David had just a few years earlier, I particularly like the harsh and dingy DX7 keyboard sounds annoying. So yes, I much prefer David with Larry Willis or Don Grolnick on a Rhodes instead of Ricky Peterson's DX7, maybe with Marcus Miller on Bass, Buddy Williams on drums instead of Tony Smith, who was great with John McLaughlin (and Lou Reed), but not so much here.
@funklover242 жыл бұрын
@@belsha Well, the DX-7 ... many bands used it in these years and we don't know, if it was Ricky's decision or David's. 😉 Personally I prefer the Rhodes piano, but somehow the DX-7 Brings back great memories. 😆
