@@CMC050Stanley was more revolutionary than Jaco. Jaco emulated an upright bass. Stanley invented that bass tone he uses. No one sounded like that at the time. Stanley would get standing ovations waking on stage! I love Jaco, but Stanley was a much greater impact on bass at the time.

An All-Star band!!! WOW!!! Stanley Clarke is one of the most original bassists that has ever played the bass and the main reason why I started playing bass!!! My very first concert was seeing Tony Williams Lifetime opening for Stanley Clarke!!! Often imitated but never duplicated!!! An incredible bassist with mind-blowing musicianship!!!

Stanley's touch is so soft, and economical. Everyone thinks you have to bleed out playing as hard as you can. You can accomplish much more by taking a breath, and playing in control.

I remember seeing this show back in the day. I just got that first Stanley Clarke album and no one was playing bass like that in those days...Jaco's fame was right around the corner. Fusion was at its zenith. Being a bassist I just perchased my first fender percision bass. Stanley and Chick were my heros. Jean Luc Ponty was very popular and Billy Cobham was the tee shirt wearing drummer from the Mahavishna Orchestra. Those were the days!!

This is what happens when you put 4 innovators together listening 2 each other and expressing themselves! And it's Fucking catchy and funky! I like the album version with Tony Williams and Ian Hammer too. Cobhams fills are so powerful and fast! But it fits and his feeling and soul always pouring out of him. Obviously I think Cobhams one of the most original drummers of the 70's to now and beyond!? I really hope these guys play or make an album someday soon! we are loosing a lot of the greatest Musician,, legends like Allan Holdsworth, Just this past week!jGeorge Duke in 2013 I think 🤔 It would be awesome if this line up recorded at least one-time tune before it's too late to!
