Such a great frontman and vocalist! He just got better and better through the mid-80's and 90's. He could have been a superstar but when he was getting close to that he realised it wasn't making him any happier as a human being. Total respect.

“Just when I thought I could not be stopped when my chance came to be king, the ghost of my life blew wilder than before” basically sums up his dissociation with Japan, fame and the pop star life and his desire to pursue his true artistic aspirations

I was also at this show in NYC…I think at the Town Hall. I was going to NYU and also working at Defiant Comics. I had never seen either RF or DS live before. It was a life changing concert!

I also was at the Beacon in NYC. Introduced me to Michael Brook. Loved the show and hated the NYTimes review.

Those five gentlemen on stage are not human beings…. They are gods. And the technicians and sound engineers were just fabulous

I would rather see the musicians play than all of the jump cuts and blurred/unsteady shots.

It's a pity that David Sylvian stops showing his big talent and amazing voice sharing with the world, sick and tired I guess of the music business, who knows?

I wish that David would of fronted another version of King Crimson and brought his Japan cohorts to back Fripp...ahhhh if only...still time...Nick Beggs would've been a nice start to fill in for Karn.

Imagine King Crimson with Mick Karn. Definitely something I’d love to hear
@evanjazzista10 ай бұрын
Nick Beggs was supposed to play on this very Fripp/Sylvian project. Though extremely flattered, he declined because he was in the middle of a painful divorce. It was supposed to be the then-new King Crimson (with Jerry Marotta on drums, that is), but Sylvian didn't agree with labeling it as such. PS: It was very nice of Mick Karn to come to visit us from his planet. Too bad he stayed here for so little...

like it matters but i saw those guys at massey hall in tronna what made the concert one of the 2 best concerts i have been to is the lack of theatricality and the visual connects between the musicians there were no psychedelic effects just musicianship everyone in that room may have been connected well except those who were expecting the stones or sumsuch what happened here ?! revisionist hystery

Would love to be in the world where David Sylvian joined Crim. THRAK is a gem, but Adrian Belew wore out his welcome.
@IanStephensonFonch4 ай бұрын
A lot of the Damage album is vintage Sylvian. But what they wrote together sounds to my ear like Red mark 2. Such a shame he didnt join Crimson. The rest of the band, well, Gunn and Mastelotto didnt spurn the opportunity. Sylvian's voice would have been amazing on 'Starless'.

Fripp is the cleanest dirty guitarist, it doesn't get much better than David's voice, such a bunch of freaks, the really cool kind ;)

This guy is vocally boring! These songs have no structure, there is no melody, good musicians, but dodgy material, sylvian was a bowie fan from catford se london. Suicide music
