I was there! Living in Rome for 12 years. I saw him 4 times live over that period in Rome. I met him and spoke with him on a number of occasions. He was always happy to talk.

Fabulous concert. He’s such a genius, and so modest. His talents are mainly as a songwriter who surrounds himself with high level virtuoso players, you notice that David’s own guitar technique is very limited. It’s not a criticism, he’s just very very lucky to have met such talented performers who believe in his vision. I do wish the audience would have shut up, especially during Darkest Dreaming. Very rude to sit and and chatter during such a beautiful piece.

You are correct that he a genius and major force of a songwriter, but clearly underestimate his technical abilities. The main reason he can surround himself with such amazing musicians is that he is their equal and clearly has their respect. Yes, it's extremely rude when peeps talk and it's infuriating.

David Sylvian é muito bom!!! Tenho quase toda sua discografia menos whaterbox e dois ultimos CDs, como tambem tenho alguns do Sakamoto e da banda do Steve Jansen e holger !!!! Mas infelizmente no Brasil muito dificil de encontrar CDs dele so importados, e infelizmente não tem lançado nada novo!!!!

DS amasing singing such a difficult song like Forbidden Colors exactly the same as in the record..i am pretty sure all those virtuosos and talent that flocked around him was also thinking wtf?..if you ever hear anyone covering anything DS you immediately notice how completely out of context it sounds..the harmonies are there but the essence is gone..DS has an angels voice period!
