@@assasinator1980 I see the merits in that opinion. It's the most cohesive album when listened to in a single sitting, it's faster and has better production. For me however, the song writing on Hell Awaits puts it above Reign In Blood. There's nothing on the latter album that can compete with Hell Awaits, At Dawn They Sleep or Crypts of Eternity.

David has a great musik taste too my personal favorite Black Flag singer is Keith Morris but indeed Rollins was the more aggressive intense performers, Blacky was a pummeling bassist I’d have to agree especially in Killing Technology like in Ravenous Medicine love that tempo change interlude, it was killer the shoutout to Possessed- Seven Churchces rekord and of corpse Venom personally nothing tops Welcome To Hell and Black Metal as well as the shoutout to Sabbath is essential!!!

Nice selection Dave! Two thumbs up for the Hell Awaits and Seven Churches selection. I’ve been recently listening to old school and newer Death, Thrash and Black Metal channel’s on Pandora and Spotify and I still think SLAYER’s Hell Awaits is the most brutal as I compare all of those albums. These old record stores were fun as hell to go into and collect from. We had Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis that I frequented all the time and in the mid to late 90’s they were unloading all of their record and tape selections for $1.00 I assume to free up space for CD’s. So I bought a horde of SLAYER, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Motörhead, Possesed, Metallica, Judas Priest, Blue Oyster Cult, Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd and more all on record and tape. And I still have all of them stashed away. The records were great because they basically doubled as a poster.

I know reign in blood gets all the credit, but I think hell awaits is slayers best album. And possessed is a classic. And I also agree, that metal started with black sabbath, then motor head took it to another level. Also, venom, bathory, and Celtic frost, hellhammer were all very important to extreme metal. Good shit.
