First time I tried Carolina Reaper it was like an out of body experience! I wanted to be out of my body because my head was on fire like a Volcano spewing red hot lava down my throught, and a zillion of the particles clinging to the inside of my mouth, tenaciously for a long period of time ! Not for the faint of heart. But yes after time you build up a tolerance.

Yes there was a time when habanero and ghost pepper were too much for me, but after getting used to the reaper they seem not as hot. However I really do caution people to be careful with the Carolina reaper it IS a completely different higher level of heat. Also when cutting them up, I would recommend gloves because you don't want to cut one open rinse your hands off and then absentmindedly rub your eyes. The oils from the reaper have extra clinging power, which is also why they cling to your taste buds for so long!
