Took me years to realise how much Weller was influenced by Village Green Preservation Society: the escalating riff during Steam Powered Train is in A Bomb In Wardour Street, and Johnny Thunders surely influenced part of In The Crowd. Totally inspired influence.

It was my first proper album that I bought...(I dont include 'Midnight Hustle' compilation..lol) i was about 10... Played it in front room with my parents about....then Mr Clean comes on with the lyrics 'if I get the chance i'll fuck up your life '..... Record turned off and returned to rumbelows and my dad swapped it for Wings greatest hits....i was gutted but I got a decent story out of it and to be honest ... I think I'd listen to wings more these days...lol
