The predecessor to modern style weak paper was introduced to the Abbasids via the Chinese through the battle of Talas, centuries after the Prophet pbuh passed away. If it wasn't our modern understanding of paper then it could be- 1. Parchment paper- This is just dried animal skin. 2. Papyrus- Which is woven strips of papyrus leaves. So all the variations of the words are all direct revelation from God since we got them from the prophet pbuh. No one scholar has ever said there is no word variation in the Quran but all affirm that the variations themselves are Quran and you can use any of the variation since they are all Quran. We have always done this and we still do this to this day, many people know all the recitations by heart. We have chains of memorizations for all recitations with their word variations and all the chains lead back to the prophet pbuh himself. Ibn ‘Abbaas who narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Jibreel taught me one style and I reviewed it until he taught me more, and I kept asking him for more and he gave me more until finally there were seven styles.” (narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3047; Muslim, 819) The two most authentic books of Hadith ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab who said: “I heard Hishaam ibn Hakeem reciting Soorat al-Furqaan in a manner different from that in which I used to recite it and the way in which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught me to recite it. I was about to argue with him whilst he was praying, but I waited until he finished his prayer, and then I tied his garment around his neck and seized him by it and brought him to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, I heard this man reciting Soorat-al-Furqaan in a way different to the way you taught it to me.’ The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to him, ‘Recite it,’ and he recited it as I had heard him recite it. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘It was revealed like this.’ Then he said to me, ‘Recite it,’ so I recited it and he said, ‘It was revealed like this.’ This Qur'aan has been revealed in seven different ways, so recite it in the way that is easiest for you.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2287; Muslim, 818)

I'm surprised no one is commenting on this, but I found it incredibly shameful that many Muslims were not able to pick up the contradiction on the first watch. Even without context the error was clear, and the context just made it worse since it contained other mistakes and oversimplifications. I encourage all of you to read more about the preservation of the Quran. Yaqeen wrote several excellent articles on this topic, but if we're going to engage with Christians, we should avoid looking like fools by turning a blind eye to an extremely obvious contradiction.

If they are in middle school he describes electrons in a simplistic way. It is OK for them to imagine electrons as small balls orbiting around a large ball. With my knowledge about qira’at (with your help and my own research) I understand what Yasir Qadhi is saying in the white background video. He’s comparing the preservation of the Quran for a specific qira’a compared to the bible. He’s not mentioning other qira’at because in his mind it will confuse his audience and may cause a fitna. In a weird way, Yasir Qadhi is himself proof of the veracity of the Prophet Muhammad. Take any old clip of Yasir and you will find a new clip where he is inconsistent in his opinions. He definitely changed along the way and so much so that he seems to stand at a 180 degree turn on some matters. I'm not faulting him, but that is how people and their personalities develop. We forget our old opinions and may state something today totally different than in the past. Which is why the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, and the Qur'an are so remarkable. Even if we were to accept small changes here and there, whatever change that is claimed is very minor and does not contradict the core teachings or beliefs of Islam. The message stays consistent. It is this consistency that is truly remarkable. Had the Prophet Muhammad written the Qur'an in the manner that has been universally accepted in a piecemeal fashion, and in an order far different from the end form or any standard form or order (narrative, chronological, procedural etc), then the Qur'an would have been a garbled mess with no structure, no sense, no cohesion, no eloquence, and no consistency. Yet the Qur'an is far from those things, despite having a unique structure that any writer would find counterintuitive if one were attempting to be effectively consistent, cohesive, eloquent and comprehensible. It's hard enough writing a book over 23 years and being consistent while going along a linear progression. Now try writing a book over 23 years where the first 5 verses get added to the next 14, written years later and together they form the 96th chapter, such as Surat Al-Alaq. In that chapter, we are taught a number of facts, none of which contradict anything else in the Qur'an. 1)God created humans from Alaq 2)God teaches humans by the pen 3) Despite this gift, humans transgress 4) We will all return to God 5) The one who forbids a servant when he prays, God will drag him from his lying, sinning forelock 6) He will have no one to call upon.7) Do not obey him but bow to Allah. As stated, none of these pronouncements are contradicted in the Qur'an, and the rhythm of the verses is not broken despite the time gap between the two parts. Rather than finding contradictions, we find facts that are corroborated by knowledge and future events. The forelock, for example, is the frontal lobe and this is the place of lying in the brain. Abu Jahl, the "one who prevents a servant from praying" dies a polytheist and therefore was failed by those who he called upon besides Allah. Allah commands that the believers do not obey him, because of his eventual end in hell, which makes this a prophecy.
