After having the Assioma's for a few years I just can't recommend anything else unless someone is totally wedded to another cleat system.

Good video. Though, my last Wahoo Speedplay Zero, bought November 2023, 10 month old, got axle play at 2,000 kms. Contacted Wahoo. Thank to your video, checked, all my Wahoo pedals have axle play. I pulled out an older Speedplay Set, 2014-2021, 35,000 kms, zero, zero play..

I have the Garmin Rally XC200, they are bombproof. Don't skimp out on the batteries, get good batteries or you will have connection issues. I don't like most cycling stuff with integrated, non-removal batteries, that just means you'll throw to the trash all of the equipment. What I love about the XC200 is how all the electronics are protected and out of sight, all other pedal systems have the electronics exposed.

the faveros for instance are rated for 50 hours on a charge and 500 charging cycles before the battery starts to degrade in capacity. thats 25000 hours of riding, or 24 years of 20 hours per week. thats a longgggggggggggggg time

Thank you for this interesting video. I wonder if the two metal marks for charging, which are nude on the outside, can get a short circuit when driving in heavy rain. I am sure the water runs down the crank and also the padels. Have you had any negative experiance with this? Thanks again.

The additional advantage of swapping pedal bodies for the Garmin is that pedals do wear out over time. Replacing the worn element, but retaining the smart insides gives the Garmin a longer life span with a second or third body...

The section on accuracy doesn't make sense to me. So if I zero-cal warm pedals and go for a ride in cold air, the numbers are inaccurate. But if I zero-cal cold pedals then go for a ride in air that eventually changes temperature, the numbers are accurate. What??

Do you know if you can upgrade the left only at a later date? I'm using wahoo pedals already and this is a next step for me.

big speedplay fan so might have to go with the single sided ones, might splurge for the duals but i know im close to 50/50 so thats less a factor

Having to wait for them to adjust to outside temperature before calibrating is a deal breaker for me when there are other systems that don't have those issues. They do look slick though and I suppose there are plenty of folks who love the speed play cleat that these will be great for.

The question for me is: do other powermeters do consider the impact of the temperature on their measurement?
@jelle72242 жыл бұрын
You can still say Speedplay, the pedal system is now marketed as Wahoo SPEEDPLAY. Even when it's a Powerlink model.

Thanks Dave. I’m looking at getting these. I noticed Cyclingtips mentioned the Giro Empire/Empire SLX slightly rubbed on the pod and requires a shim stack which I think comes in the box. I sort of recall you running Empires (?) can you confirm if they rub and need the shim?
@davidarthur2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan I don't use the Giro shoes anymore so can't comment on how compatible they are with the Speedplays so I guess go with what CTips think if they've tried them
@pounet4027 Жыл бұрын
Hi David, I bought the Powrlink Dual and tried different Wahoo cleats. It turns out that the protector plate hurts the power pod. The spindle is too short with heel in. I don’t use a big float, but he inside corner of this protector plate in “heel in” position rubs the power pod. It’s better with old Speedplay cleat, but it's not really satisfactory because you need to keep very little float with “heel in” position and my knees don’t like this. The interest of Speedplay pedals is then considerably reduced. Before the Powrlinks, I had bought the Assioma. The Power Pod is bigger, but with a much larger Q-Factor and so angular freedom was possible. I don’t need the 15° float, but at least 5° inwards. The product does not conform to its description at this stage. You don’t mention that design problem. Have you tried the Powrlink with with the toe slightly outward and the heel inward? Regards,
@davidarthur Жыл бұрын
Hi Poun, I also ride heel in and have not experienced this problem with the pedals and the stock cleats they were supplied with but interesting to hear this - have you tried contacting Wahoo to see what they say?
@pounet4027 Жыл бұрын
@@davidarthur Yes, I contacted Wahoo who replied that he had no such feedback. With old cleats, on the other hand, that passes, but hardly. I sent photos. It's the protector plate that rubs the base of the power pod, moreover the varnish / paint there is very quickly gone.

Got Powerlink Zero Dual about last month. I noticed after I Charged and I used it for every day for bike to work and about several days past that, my right pedal is 40 or 50 percent while the left is still at 100 percent of battery. do you think it is normal or do I need to ask for a replacement to wahoo?
@d.w.evans11822 жыл бұрын
I've got these and use them with a Garmin head unit, quite often when I turn the Garmin on I get a message saying something along the lines of 'power meter firmware mismatch', any idea what this is? Also I have left/right balance displayed and sometimes it seems only one pedal is recording data, I'm normally evenly balanced and it becomes quicky obvious something's wrong once I start a ride if that happens and a quick calibration seems to sort it out. Otherwise they are great pedals.

David - what is your take on value of left only power meters? I can get a Rival left side upgrade for like $250 vs if I want both sides, I think I need to go pedals...and in this case, that's $1,000. Do you find that people have enough variance between legs to justify having both sides? Or does it really depend on the individual?
@davidarthur2 жыл бұрын
I think left side only is perfect for most people really. I’d imagine most people don’t have a huge variance on both sides, not enough to justify the expense and be wanting to do something about it without working with a professional bike fitter

I have both, left only and dualsided.. for what I can say..left only will do because consistenty counts. Difference left and right leg is only 1a2% and from my personal expierience.
@ayowser012 жыл бұрын
The major benefit of having a dual-sided PM is the ability to log the amount of time stood up, out of saddle.
@jwfriar2 жыл бұрын
@@ayowser01 do you have a goal for time out of the saddle? I practice doing it bc I know there is technique, but have read that on long climbs you’re more efficient in the saddle and what little wind resistance you have on climbs is made worse out of the saddle.

@@davidarthur I guess this type of equipment is for pro riders at that price, I ride for pleasure and I don't have a lot of money and I think a lot of bike stuff is now ridiculously over priced.
