If one could lose their salvation then surely the idea of peace that surpasses all understanding is totally ludicrous?

Yes there are really two camps of Christians - those who say once saved always saved and those who say you can fall away. We're not saved by works, you can't be good enough to go to Heaven. Jesus took care of that. But, if you follow Jesus you will want to do good works, not to save yourself, but to be grateful to be a follower, or a disciple, or to wear the name Christian. I would rather not take a chance and live a sloppy wordly backsliden lifestyle and then think i'm still right with God. No, if you serve the Lord then you do what HE wants, not what you want.

Hebrews 6:4-6 is pretty in your face, as well as John 15:1-6, which is as clear cut as it's going to get-no pun intended.

1 john 1 9 if we confess our sins he is 0 just and faithfull to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteosness

Your preaching by proof texts . 1 Corinthians 6 .Ok look at the context . Why should a brother rather settle a matter than going before the unbelievers , why do you think ? Because of the description given by Paul THE UNRIGHTEOUS , then Paul gives a description of examples of the UNRIGHTEOUS, now we know that the only way to be RIGHTEOUS, is to not stop sinning , live a good life , clean ourselves up ( remember the pharisees and the parable of the tax collector in Luke 18 ) how ? Look at verse 11 for the answer. This is not teaching that if a saint stumbles in these areas they lose salvation , that's why it says the opposite. Your ignoring the context because you are essentially teaching works salvation . 6 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? 6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. 7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? 8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. I'm not bashing you , just the teaching . Calvernism teaches ' Lordship salvation. Arminiaism does the same. Its subtle so watch out .

Felix, it's not works, we must obey. If in repentance we are a new creature, old is gone, and we crucify the flesh then we best act like a Christ follower. My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they Follow me.

Do they become un regenerate ( un born ) . And then re born , again , again and re, sealed ? How does it work ? Or is it that you stumble once and that's it ? The whole ' conditional salvation, breaks down upon the whole point of being born from above and dying and been raised by Jesus . ( Roman's 6 ) a believer is no longer in Adam , there has been a permanent change . They are no longer under the law of sin and death. I could list hundreds of verses of the eternal security of the believer , but the point rests on what happens when you become born again . Everything changes and cannot be changed back. Just like yes you have free will but you dont get to go back into your mother's womb and be unborn . The warning passages in context are never about salvation for the believer .They are for other service, discipleship, testimony , rewards or it is a Jewish or unbeliever in focus .

Wow, someone who finally gets it! It's refreshing to see a comment from someone who realizes the truth. I like David's presentations, but he is way off on this one. The first passage he quotes from 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, he fails to look at the first 5 verses where it says that the "unrighteous," is the "unbeliever." Those who will not inherit the kingdom of God are the unbelievers. Paul urges the Corinthians not to live like those who are not going to inherit the kingdom of God. I'm usually debating people on such videos, it's nice to see someone who has thought things through carefully. I think the biggest problem that people have is misunderstanding fellowship passages and thinking of them as salvation passages. God bless brother.

@@MrBazinthenow Keep up the good fight. There are not too many of us on these youtube sites. Mostly it's just the pharisees and legalist. They just take a verse out of context and make it a prooftext for their bias. Most don't know how to study the Bible contextually and historically. They just cherrypick.

What does it mean to be ready (beyond believing in Jesus)? Does it mean if he comes before we repent for a sin, we will be casted away? It's a little scary to think about especially knowing that we aren't perfect. What does being ready look like?

If you're truly born from above, you will not be cast away. Your redemption is sealed with the Holy Spirit. Once you're born-again, you don't become unborn-again. There are times when saved believers depart for a time and live with sin. Rather than lose your salvation, God disciplines you (Hebrews 12). This doesn't mean their salvation isn't sure. Our hope and trust is not in ourselves, but in Jesus Himself. We trust in his Lordship, works, sinlessness, holiness, not our own. So don't be afraid, perfect love casts out fear.

What about those who struggle with addictions after salvation drugs alcohol or sex and repent

Once saved always saved gets brought out of context. We can forfeit our salvation by choosing the world. That doesn't mean God won't or can't forgive that means we can choose to be convicted of sin or not. We can choose because of free will.

The whole idea of creation is that God created humanity to have free will. Free will doesn't suddenly disappear when you become a Christian.

thats right, we arent and never were like robots. Its better to keep close to God rather than fool around in the 'world'. Sometimes we do end up on a folly, which results in misery...and we then turn back to He who can restore us. Its not a license to sin, because we are going to sin anyway (even a momentary bad thought is sin)

not speaking of free will here. We're speaking in regards to if someone can be born-again and then become unborn again. If someone can be a son or daughter of the Lord and then not be a son or daughter of the Lord. We're also addressing whether or not the sealing of the Holy Spirit is secure or is not secure. Things like that. Also would Peter have died and gone to hell prior to seeking forgiveness after he denied the Lord 3 times.

@@martin9410 brother do we not go from dead in sins to born again? If you can spiritually be raised from the dead and thus be reborn then why cant you also die spiritually again? I realize this concept becomes quite silly if you believe you are forced to change from the dead to new life against your will verses seeing your need to be reborn in the gospel and thus responding in humility and repentance to put your trust in Christ. But if we do see the need thanks to the gospel and make a choice to submit to the lord then it would also make sense that we could be so deceived and decide that spiritual death could look better than eternity with God. Look at the parable of the sowers. Mathew 13 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Look how all three of these heard the word and understand it and only the last example bears fruit. Which we know if you have faith and do nothing that you aught to then your faith is dead. The thing that made the one in the thorns fall away was the cares of the world and riches. While the other falls away by hardships and persecution for Christ. These are all things we are warned about. James 2 14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

@@nooner4850 I appreciate your thoughts on the subject. Let's consider your biblical examples. First, Matthew 13. The key is in verse 23. "but he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and UNDERSTANDS IT..." Those previously that received the word but didn't understand it. In other words, it didn't sink in. It didn't take root. They failed to understand the gospel. I think the Luke passage which is a bit more detailed gives us more insight. Let's look at Luke 8:11-15, "Now the parable is this: the seed is the Word of God. Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for awhile, and in time of temptation fall away. They which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.' There are 4 types of ground. The first is not saved because Satan took the word away. The 2nd believe and then fall away. The 3rd got choked. The 4th bore fruit. In vs. 12, we see those who heard the message, the devil takes the word out of their hearts so that "they may not believe and be saved." The emphasis of the parable is not so much about salvation but about bearing fruit. Only one group was not saved. Even with the group that was said to have fallen away, it is not apostasy. A totally different Greek word in used in Hebrews 6. With this soil, the believer withdraws himself. The 3rd group bears no fruit unto maturity. This is not addressing salvation but fruit. so in summary on this parable, there is only one soil that is not saved. Let's consider the James chapter 2 example. If you read the entire book of James, he considers those he's writing to to be saved. He addresses them 15 or 16 times as his beloved brothers. First of all, let's look at 17, "...faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." In the Greek, the word translated "dead," here does not mean someone that has died, rather it means, "void," "useless," "empty." In other words, that faith is useless. A faith, even though it is useless or dead, is still faith. In verse 14, the word, "saved," can have many different meanings. The best translation here is "can that faith rescue him?" Rescue him from what? Being fruitless in the kingdom. In fact, if you study the entire 2nd chapter, you'll see it's addressing Jewish believers that James encourages to get to work! Notice at the end of verse 16, "what does it profit?" If you have a faith that isn't blessing anyone, isn't loving anyone, it is useless to those that could use your help and encouragement. James isn't addressing the loss of salvation. Chapter 2 is a "get to work" chapter! Let's not forget how one receives eternal life. It's by faith, not by works. This is why Martin Luther wanted to throw the book of James out because he didn't know how to make James work well with the rest of the Bible on the topic of salvation. We have some advantages today that Luther didn't have back then. We now have a better understanding of the Greek. James doesn't disagree with Paul, he is speaking of something different. He is saying that a faith that has no works is useless, and does no one any good. He never speaks about loss of salvation. If we begin to add works as a means to insure salvation, then we are adding to the Gospel. Also it presents us with a problem. For if we are saved by faith and saved by works, then we need to discover at what point we have done enough works to be saved. First, there is no answer in the Bible regarding the criteria of how many works to keep us saved, so we will never feel joyful or convinced that we're going to heaven. Secondly, eternal life is no longer just a gift, it is also a part of our eternal wages. We have now robbed Jesus of some of His glory, for now we not only give Him credit for our salvation but also give ourselves credit as well. Satan is always wanting to rob Jesus of His glory. Satan is always whispering in our ear, "what Jesus did on the cross wasn't enough, you need to save yourself."

You don’t follow Jesus. All true believers are part of his body and are IN Christ. I no longer live and am DEAD to sin. Too bad this dude doesn’t understand the gospel.
