Nice to see the ole' Flatiron getting some air time!

I kept waiting for it, and Sam finally gave the correct answer. I spent a lot of time listening to that one at 16rpm. It’s like a Jimmy Page lick - doesn’t make sense rhythmically but sticks in you brain. It’s like Bill was revving the engine of the Bluegrass Special, and you better be on board ‘cuz he’s fixin’ to dump the clutch.

as a total noob, I am so happy I found this channel. I love how you mix in other folks opinions (and break things down so well). Keep up the great work!

Great video David! A year's worth of info here. BTW, I pulled up "On My Way Back to the Old Home", but I couldn't find any kick-off version by Bill. Only fiddle...? Even BGB, Del, and a host of others kicked off with fiddle. Can anyone recommend a Bill Mon kickoff for this song? again, great video David!

There is no Dempsey Young on this list and that is a crime against the mandolin. Sawmill Road or Drifting With The Tide for starters

@@mandohat no, Jeremy didn't make the cut. I single handedly talked David into removing Jeremy🤣🤣

Is the "kick off" called "Taters"? Or is that something different?
@ReidAWarrenАй бұрын
that’s the (usually fiddle) “one-and-a-two-and-a-three-and-a-four-and-a” rhythm. That’s four taters right there
