I switched over from the medical field 3 years ago. Went back to school. Got an IT degree. Focus on Cyber Defense. Graduated. Got my Sec+ and finally after almost a year got my first job in IT. Security is tough to get into and will take patience and time. Clear your schedule to learn ethical hacking. It’s a rabbit hole. Fun but a rabbit hole. Find a good mentor to help because sometimes reading isn’t enough.

Great video David! After getting hurt at work a couple of weeks ago I've come to the realization that my days as a delivery driver are numbered so after seeing this video I've really developed an interest in Ethical Hacking/Pen Testing. I started an Ethical Hacking course on Udemy and so far I've really enjoyed it and I'll be switching careers hopefully sooner rather than later. At 48 it's a bit scary switching up careers but based on what I'm learning so far I'm really enjoying it. What I like best about your channel is how thorough you are with your questions and making sure that your viewers get all the information we need to get ahead and succeed in the IT field. I really enjoyed this video. I know nothing on cybersecurity and just found this by chance. Maybe I start looking at the INE and start there. Thanks for the video David!

First time seeing this video while looking for IT courses online. My mind is blown and will be coming back for more. I have heard of so many people working on or trying to get a degree in cyber security and honestly.......I think I want to be in on this after this video. Thank you, gentlemen😀.

Lyrics: It's always a problem, how do I get in? How do I get experience without a job to give me experience? And you've basically given us the roadmap for that.

OSCP was the first certification that I aimed at. I had apprenticeship degree as Software Developer Expert in Germany and after 4-5 years at IBM I tried really hard, but got burnt out... Had to take several months of peace. Now that Lufthansa has taken me over as Software Engineer I wish I could try again, but OSCP... OH MAN! Thats hard. For me it has always been: learning by doing at your job, therefore I t would really recommend to start slowly - whatever your background is.

Many HR and business managers that post IT jobs lack IT knowledge. They don't understand that IT certification and degree do not give the IT knowledge. It is the hands on experience that gives the knowledge.

There's a beautiful level of irony in talking about breaking into an industry where you would be breaking into systems. It seems like trying to hack the HR department or just hacking your way into the field. Very cool.

Thanks you for this and all your other videos! I am a 39 yr old student looking to move onto university or work in cyber security next year after I finish college. My concern has alway been my age and what roles to go after once college is done. Knowing how to get into different jobs is easing my mind a little. Thank you.

I am 43 years old and have very little computer experience. I have a past record and no college degree. I know I can learn anything if taught and I know I can excel after I pick it up. So a guy like me most likely won't be hireable, will I? Unfortunately today in America your past is who you apparently are now and we are not full citizens. Maybe when the system finally falls we can get a 2nd chance.
