I recommend looking into the cryptography route. They need ppl and there’s a need for people who can troubleshoot issues involving certificates or the infrastructure for it. It’s dry, but pays well.

This is probably one of the most powerful videos I've seen. Not just related to the tech industry but what's important in life PERIOD. I say this to all the young people getting into tech, careers are great but time, love and your health are way more important. Be kind to yourself on your journey. Thank you David and Neal for this inspiring conversation.

Im actively working towards Sec+ and on the brink of climbing higher on the IT scale in my Organization, and I owe a ton of it to both of you. Know this video is a year old now, but had to comment just after listening to the "3 tips for life" section because it truly stood out to me and I never see anyone talk about this stuff in IT or cyber. Thank you both so much for caring enough to include this intentionally and not just stuff that makes you a hacker or the most skilled IT person in the world. THIS stuff you guys included is REALLY what matters because it drives and informs all the other stuff.

Neal and David you're both heroes! Ive said it many times but i'll say it again, sharing knowledge and making it availble to the masses is heroic! I'm so sorry about your cancer Neal. You're a badass so i have no doubt you'll fight it like a champ! And David the story about your daughter is so sad yet you are so strong to express that to your audience. And i think Neal is very wise to focus more on himself rather then something others want him to do. I respect your POV. I love you guys!! Never stop being a legend! 💕

David,I have rcently restarted viewing your channel, and struck on to this series of cybersecurity videos you have been doing. Have been under a rock for years since i lost my last job, and now I see its a huge shift I need to make to get to a new career since then;this specific interview brought some aspect to me which i was internally realising in my troubled times - that health is gold, all else gets to the side if health is not on your side;post health it is networking;unfortunately i see my weakness in both and with this interview i realise that despite decades of experience one has to restart somewhere again to get back on your feet on your own;network will also only help you when you are having some stand helping them in their personal and professional life; but thanks to Neil and you please continue to take care of your healths and keep inspiring others to do so. cheers

Hello David, I'm a fourth year student in Management Information Systems and this podcast really gave me a wake up call in terms of what being in the cybersecurity/IT world really means to us as humans, not only as workers. I realized that not only do I want to prioritize my salary and the best title for a job, but I also want to be able to do my job to the best of my ability while being as physically and mentally healthy as possible since that is just s important. I learned that if the job I am working doesn't align with my internal goals, then it's not a job worth doing.

David and Neal!, you both are truly wonderful individuals, always ready to lend a helping hand and share your experiences with honesty. Your actions inspire others to become better people. Neal, I wish you a full and speedy recovery 🙏. I appreciate your unique sense of humor, always keeping it 3s😆. The emotional video touched me deeply, reminding me of moments when life's vastness seemed to shrink to nothingness. Going through such experiences can be a rare and transformative gift, one not granted to everyone. It's evident that you, Neal, have been gifted with this opportunity to reborn your soul. Not everyone gets a chance like this, and it takes a truly exceptional person to emerge from it as a good-hearted expert. Regards to both of you and Thank you💛

I feel the need to say that I support the idea of creating content around all the experience Neal has. But also to encourage him to persue life. Meaning to give his 100% focus on sleeping well, eating healthy, relaxing and golf. I believe that habits determine our future. Your life experience inspire me to pursue Cyber security. Although I have been learning computer science for only a year, and adding the fact I am 29 years old. I have the determination to succeed. You can succeed also, you have noticed and you see life differently. Thank you. May God bless you and everyone here.

shit that whole video especially the cancer story just woke me up. I prioritized my career and skills over my friends and girl and my health these last years. Cyber is the most underpaid sector i think. So much to learn, so much competition against the best. To be a good defender you need to know what an APT is capable of and to be a good attacker you need to know how a forensic investigator operates.

I'm so glad ur doing well Neal. Continued prayers always all around. This helped to hear about the mental burnout because its not just the day to day grind. I lost one of my dearest friends this year to liver failure and hot me so hard because we were meant to be together even her father said so. She just chose to go her own way feel back into old habits but nonetheless people around me worried why I was taking it so hard. So a word of advice tomorrow is never promised so live your life your way and if you happen to receive another day that job will be there. Im currently using my FMLA time as needed because I can't do everything I used to (spinal deterioration) but I need to cherish my family and not let the burdens of others to get to me. So David and Neal thank you for reminding me.

First off Neal, thank you for your military service! I’m so sorry you have to go through this diagnosis. I could not even imagine Neal but I love the way you’re dealing with it. my uncle had the same thing he had cancer except his was stomach cancer. 19:40 also David’s right you really have to ignore the haters. That’s why I quit doing social media except for having Twitter Instagram Facebook for my business. Because I started out in film and photography working in the directors guild, and I am working towards my certified ethical hacker exam, but aside from business I don’t use any social media because it is so toxic. Life is too short for toxicity and toxic people. I just turned 40 in August and it’s surreal especially so because I still literally get Aidid for a later a lottery ticket anytime I go to the liquor store even if it’s the same store so it’s even more surreal because people think I’m younger. You’re right life is very short. So you have to embrace it whist we still have it.

12:00 a doctor I follow has discussed how a deficiency in vitamin D is one of the leading reasons for developing that kind of cancer.. being that you’re inside all day for this kind of work, I’m curious how well you supplemented leading up to the diagnosis? Do you take supplements and about how much Ui daily?

Hey David. Just came across your channel yesterday. Top draw. That's for all the great content. Also, tell Neil that he needs to head over to Hilton head. It's an amazing place for golf.

fight-on, neal!🥊i'm relieved that neal is such a profoundly robust spirit! he seriously deserves ONLY the BEST in life. his profound teachings discipline me to succeed on the blue team as an aspiring CTI analyst. he's actually the major reason why i bought the intelligence-driven incident response book from his recommendations! sharing a photo of the book on my social media caused a domino effect, which lead my current mentor to stumble upon me by chance who then miraculously proceeded to offer help, thus i express yet another wholehearted thank you. networking is truly essential. 💜💜i'm beyond ecstatic you two are are working together again! i started getting teary-eyed hearing him talk about prioritizing physical and mental health, especially the latter. it's an understatement to say that my soul needed this.
