Roadrunner in Snow Canyon State Park, Utah

This greater roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus) approached us in the Petrified Dunes area of southern Utah's Snow Canyon State Park. I'd never seen (or heard) one of these remarkable desert birds so close up before! It had beautiful coloration in its head and tail feathers and employed them quite expressively.
