@@angelcelis9090 100% he fucked himself terribly, that’s why you never use a shop your unfamiliar with or you have someone you personally know and trust with cars who can vouch for the shop either way you need to be able to trust the shop to do a proper papi especially if your paying them 200-300$ for it. Bc they should have caught all those problems without question and its clear they either scammed him (the shop) for the 200-300$ or worse they collaborated with the R8 seller bc he could have paid them as well and he’d be none the wiser if the R8 seller had done so, either way he made such a rookie mistake buying this car and wy he’s now out 100k and no longer even has the car! Talk about taking a major L which all could have been avoided if he’d had gone and seen the car himself.

All I'm hearing is that you listened to a bunch of parts changers who never once diagnosed the car. The AC was a big red flag for wiring. You can't simply listen to the code. It's just a reference point on where to start. When it blew the first fuse at the shop, the harness should have been inspected.

You didn't get scammed. It's your fault that you didn't do your homework thoroughly before handing your truck and the differences of cash over. I would never simply just swap shiet over with that much value without doing extensive checks on all of the shiet on that other car first. Even at equal value. We both go to reputable mutual agreement shop to check everything out first on both cars.

I got mildly ripped off on a truck once. The only way I buy is this. Negotiate the price, get a bank check, get the cheapest plane ticket. Go look at, touch etc. Do the final transaction at a bank. I'll drive it back or bring it to a delivery service (depending on how far). If the car doesn't pan out, a cheap plane ticket home.... My only problem is when the car is at a cool city, my wife wants to come along. Makes my $500 budget adventure turn into a $1500 long weekend.

As a technician for over thirty years they let you down. You are not supposed to guess what's wrong, you're supposed to properly diagnose the customer concern. Playing guessing games is what they did that cost you so much money. Whenever a fuse is blown you should check the wiring. Those shops are just as guilty as the person that sold you the car. If something seems fishy stay away from it especially with those large amounts of money.

It takes stones to publicly acknowledge bad financial experiences. Brother, don't beat yourself up too hard. A lot of us have done that type of thing. We all live and learn. Yours was pretty expensive, though, but I'll share a couple that I lost $$$ on... * I picked up a 2012 C6 Grand Sport, 5,000 mi. in perfect condition, in 2015 for $45.5. I put over $60k into it, 900HP, E85 built motor, ran great. But when I went to sell it, obviously, I took a hell of a beating. I shouldn't have sold that car, it was perfect. * 2021 I bought a high performance boat during the crazy covid shit. When I sold it, I lost well over $30k. * I recently picked up a new 2023 Durango Hellcat for $89,500. It's depreciation is dropping Like a Rock I'm sure. The point is, if you are in the hobby, it is very, very expensive, no doubt. I personally have done good with the purchases, but when I sell them, I get beat to hell. I don't like the hassle with trying to get top dollar. I'm sure my Durango will be the same thing, but I do plan to keep it forever (LOL).

When I had my C5 Corvette, I recall seeing in the forum, a common issue with many in which the dash would light up with all kinds of warning lights. It turns out the wiring bundle that went from the door into the engine bad was getting pinched, resulting in insulation being rubbed down until bare wires shorted against each other. Bad design Then the EBCM would fail because of one component....insufficient duration testing by GM Then the rear-mounted smog pump check valve would fail every few years....insufficient duration testing by GM Early door lock module failures......same root cause I could go on and on, but I learned the hard way that if a stock vehicle has problems, modifications may make things worse. THAT'S why I never considered a newer Corvette. GM and electronics/electrical wiring don't mix. Audis are not known to be much better.

Yeah that sounds like a total nightmare. I can relate though wait till you hear this. I found an 06 Lincoln Town Car Signature Limited for sale here in AL. They wanted 14k for it and so I was thinking they either have a super nice car or they have lost there minds right. So I drove the four hours to go see the car and when I get there none of the actuators in the dash worked at all. It would blow cold air out the feet part of the dash but no where else. And the back vents were stuck on cold no heat in the back and this was at the end of winter time. The car had 70k miles on it and the rest of it was perfect so I offered 11k and they settled at 11700 bucks. It's dark cherry metallic which is an awesome color. It's kinda purple or dark red or maroon depending on the light and angle you look at but I love the thing. Everyone I know loves the thing and it's not just a regular old town car there's something special about it. There's about five of them in this town I live in but mine is the only V code eighth digit car with the rims I have. All the others are Y cars and have regular town car rims. Most of them are white but none the same color I got. Anyway about 2000 bucks has fixed the dash it had to come out, got some cat back exhaust it's super loud for a car with cats but it sounds really good. Everyone always says why are your exhaust tips not ran out the back? Well cuz I like em out the side behind the back tire. Oh and I just got a new master cylinder stopping was getting real sketchy there for a minute. I love my car man like nobody's business I paid to much but I don't even care. It was owned by an old dude who took really good care of it. There wasn't a speck of dust behind the dash. All the inspection marks are still there it's like it just rolled out brand new and I'm about to roll over the 75k mark.

$160k for a 2017 R8 V10+ with 65k miles is crazy, $130k absolute max even with the turbo kit, you only got $125k because you traded it for a depreciating 5-Series that you probably paid a bit too much for let's be honest

Man that story made me sick to my stomach, bro. A 1dy return plane ticket would’ve been expensive but not $80k expensive. Buying a car like that and not test driving it or taking it to a trusted shop is insanity. Also, buying a heavily modified car for going price of stock car is both no-no and a red flag that they know the car has issues and are just baiting you that you can get this modded car for stock car price lol.

Weird assumption for a car guy to think the car shutting off mid pull has anything to do with the transmission. I’d understand if it went into limp mode or neutraled out. But when the car worked after that first major malfunction you should’ve known it wasn’t a transmission issue and most definitely shouldn’t have driven it again until you figured out the actual problem.

I foresee you sending future issues to Car Wizard for a go through. It's worth the savings of unnecessary costs.

This has been happening alot, since more people are buying used vehicles. Vin numbers being swapped, shotty work on transmissions and engine, and other damages hidden.

Sorry to hear about the car. Do you remember what area the 30 amp fuse was that kept blowing? I’m actually dealing with a similar situation. Bought Huracan at auction; rear camera doesn’t work, rear harness was rubbing up against wheel. They gutted the heat shields when they did aftermarket exhaust and the main pyrofuse randomly blew one day and left me stranded. Trying to figure out why that happened. I’m gonna be checking harnesses now in the rear after watching your video.
