Thanks for your videos. Chalk from the wood is perfectly erased with an eraser.
@DavideSora9 ай бұрын
Yes, some kind of eraser may be fine, but to get inside the narrow corners of the mortise a bristle brush is still more effective. Furthermore, even if the chalk is not removed perfectly, there will be no problems, it is perfectly compatible with the glue, as long as it does not create unwanted thickness and that it is a dry chalk, without the addition of oils or waxes (very important). If you like to use an eraser, be sure that you do not leave traces of rubber or silicone substances in the wood, because it would be disastrous as the glue would not stick in the contaminated areas

Caro amico Davide. Juca di Brasile. Una volta che la colla si è sciolta alla temperatura corretta, per quanto tempo posso usarla per un'altra colla per violino?
@DavideSora2 жыл бұрын
If you keep it in the refrigerator once it has cooled, you can reuse it for a week or two, but only for gluing that are not under stress (gluing of the plates to the ribs, purfling, ribs to blocks, linings, and so on). But for major gluings under stress such as center joints, neck mortise, and bassbar it is essential to make a fresh batch every time. In any case, once it has cooled after being melted and used, it is important that the glue solidifies in the jar forming an elastic gel. If it remains liquid it means that the ambient temperature is too high (usually above 25 ° C) and this is not good. If your workshop has an ambient temperature of 19° or 20° C it will solidify forming a gel, but if you don't put it in the refrigerator, within two or three days it will start to decompose and develop molds, and you will have to throw it in the trash. Glue is cheap and very important, it makes no sense to reuse it many times to save money, risking that it does not hold or that it introduces mold into the gluing. You simply need to do a little at a time so as not to waste it.

No, non ho fatto un libro sulla costruzione del violino, forse in futuro ma chissà...
