A Cheap Choke From Bottom Half Guard

When you catch someone with this choke, they will be upset and wonder what sort of black magic you used to finish them, lol!
It is a really quick choke that you can easily set up from your half guard frame. It can also be turned into a baseball choke for a stronger finish if needed.
Sometimes I just use this to create space against someone who is trying to crush me, as to avoid this choke they have to move away from you. It is a nice little "cheap" trick to have in your arsenal that will definitely catch people off guard.

I get it all the time. When rolling with people who have never rolled me with, at least once. Once you know about it, they just create a lot of space, which then helps me escape or create new opportunities. So it is a win win for me. :)

What keeps them from getting their head back to the middle or breaking the s grip?

You are putting your chin behind their head, so their head is blocked from coming back up. Breaking the grip is tricky because it is behind their head. The move looks simple, but it is quite effective. I think it's one of the reasons it works so well is that it looks so unassuming

I have caught all sorts, brown and black belts with this. Like I said, it works once or twice, then people learn fast so it just works to allow you to create space.
