It’s a valid perspective to consider that “Baca” in Psalm 84 and “Bakkah” in the Quran could refer to the same place. Such a perspective can offer a compelling link between the two scriptures and their shared Abrahamic roots. It’s a perspective held by some based on the similarities in name and theme. The convergence of “Baca” in Psalm 84 and “Bakkah” in the Quran, combined with the shared motif of pilgrimage, certainly offers a compelling argument for a shared geographical reference. The shared focus on pilgrimage to a sacred place, the transformative power of such a journey, and the deep yearning for divine proximity are universal themes found in both texts. These references to springs or sources of water in both scriptures add another layer to the thematic similarities between the two, emphasizing not just the physical journey or pilgrimage but also the divine providence and blessings that can emerge even in challenging circumstances. The geographical setting of Mecca - its valley location surrounded by hills and mountains - is another point of interest when drawing parallels with the “Valley of Baca” mentioned in Psalm 84:6. Given these overlapping elements: 1. The similarity in names (Baca and Bakkah). 2. The theme of pilgrimage. 3. References to springs or sources of water. 4. The valley setting.

I just want to thank you for this Psalms series. I'm teaching a Psalm each week, and this is a better resource than the $50 Psalms commentary I purchased!

This psalm is certainly a pearl. And also, it's a good psalm to recite while traveling, walking, hiking, etc. I like the ESV translation where the psalmist says in verse 5, "Blessed are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion."

This was so beautiful. I love my quiet time with God and your commentary. It gave much assurance, confirmation that the Lod spoke to me on and more insight I needed. What a wonderful thing to walk the pilgrimage journey and that we are not alone in it. See you all in Heaven one day. Keep going, never give up and keep the precious gift of love and Faith

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (October 24), this was the basis for our Sunday School Lesson of the Day. It was entitled "The Joy of Worship." The hymn, "How Blessed Is This Place," written by Ernest E. Ryden (1886-1981), is a good hymn to compliment this Scripture, regardless of denomination. Ernest was born the same year as my paternal grandmother (11-13-1886/10-29-1951).

"Since the law has ONLY A SHADOW of the good things to come and not the true form of these realities, ..." Heb 10:1a In the new dispensation, the writings of the old testament cannot solely provide spiritual clarity in exclusion of the new. Basing a teaching primarily or solely upon the writings of the old testament prophets who longed to see the advent of the new testament is unwise and leads to all sorts of errors. This would be akin to asking to be led along a busy precarious path by a partially sighted person while blindfolded. "For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see BUT DID NOT SEE IT, and to hear what you hear BUT DID NOT HEAR IT." Luke.10.24

He have no sense about *Baca. I give you information about Baca/Bakkah/Makkah (present in Saudi Arabia). Related ayat for Bakkah from Holy book of Islam ❤️ Quran. →_→Bible New testament 👇 Psalm 84:6: “As they journey through the Valley of Baka, they transform it into a place of springs; the early rains also cover it with pools of water.” Reference of Bakkah/Baca from Quran 👇 Quran 3:96 (Surah Al-Imran, Ayah 96) is as follows: *إِنَّ أَوَّلَ بَيْتٍ وُضِعَ لِلنَّاسِ لَلَّذِي بِبَكَّةَ مُبَارَكًا وَهُدًى لِّلْعَالَمِينَ* **Translation:** "Indeed, the first House [of worship] established for mankind was that at Bakkah/Makkah - blessed and a guidance for the worlds." . . Islam is the final message from Allah. And our final Messanger is Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).And Muslims also respect and love other Prophets and Messangers. We Muslims loves Jesus/Isa PBUH more than Christians.

He describes the Muslims, so the meaning of the valley of Bakkah is Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and the house he mentioned is the Kaaba. Research for yourselves that the aforementioned Bakkah is Makkah..that is the worship of Muslims.
