Maybe Eliab was embarrassed because David had witnessed that he and the whole army of Israel were to frightened to go out and face the Philistines in battle.

David's father sent him from Bethlehem (house of bread) to bring food to his brothers and take on the giant Goliath (H1555 Perhaps from גָּלָה (H1540) - to uncover, remove - perhaps to reveal David as the king of Israel and foreshadow Jesus Christ who vanquished death as the Son of God the king and Creator). Jesus was from Bethlehem and sent from his Father in heaven to give us his bread which is his body by dying on Golgotha.
