I am so thankful for this video. I couldn't understand why I was feeling worse since I had started the course. I am on Day 127, and many a time, I thought I should stop. Letting go, as the world sees it, of a professional career and the aspirations of your family and your own is not in the least easy. I REALLY REALLY appreciate David and his ministry for his focus on the NEED to go through this intense shedding process of unconscious guilt. The more we value the things of this world, the more doing the Course seems like pain and loss. I think those who are already dissatisfied with the world are the ones who find the Course. The ‘loss’ then seems less and less painful. This world offers nothing I value. I am doing the Workbook Lessons for the first time. Lesson 154 says, “I am a minister of God”. This is a long way from “Nothing in this room means anything.” I am all in. We develop trust; and we will not recognize what we have received (learned) until we share it. Thank you David.

@@llbean6931 depends on what one believes. Some doing extensive studying of NDE's and people with Pre-life Memories, say that there is some coercion to come down here. And that most beings do not want to come down here, but that they can be goaded into doing so.

@@bpprovit Interesting. I’ve heard countless NDE accounts but never one saying we were coerced into coming here. I’ve heard non NDE theories about the “ soul/reincarnation trap. One NDE experiencer (30 day coma) said that we chose to come here but not for “ lessons” but for a very difference experience such as contrast. The lesson business never made sense to me.

A Course in Miracles saved me. The main thing that changed so much was asking the Holy Spirit to change my focus from my lower egoic mind to my upper mind. I do it as often as I feel the effects of the lower mind. I don't have much time left on earth and letting Gods love in was tough. A Course in Miracles helped me on this journey. He has never given me more than I can truly handle, hard as that seems to believe. God is.

I found a passage yesterday from the text that also talks about this, it's from the chapter 24, end of section 2: "The key you threw away God gave your brother, whose holy hands would offer it to you when you were ready to accept His plan for your salvation in the place of yours. How could this readiness be reached save through the sight of all your misery, and the awareness that your plan has failed, and will forever fail to bring you peace and joy of any kind? Through this despair you travel now, yet it is but illusion of despair. The death of specialness is not your death, but your awaking into life eternal. You but emerge from an illusion of what you are to the acceptance of yourself as God created you."

God does not do anything to us. He loves us. Everything we experience is a result of choices we have made using our free will, either here or at the soul level. Everything comes from within nothing else is real. I am in my third year and continue to move towards love and away from fear. Learning to tame the ego is not easy and I still fall down the rabbit hole. But I am getting better at discerning Me from me - Blessings to All.

That is a very good point not talked about enough. Discernment which is a form of "judgement" but one is using it from the Holy Spirits perspective which is "non-judgment". And we begin to be able to distinguish between the ego voice and the Holy Spirits Voice.

11 years ago when I started studying and practicing forgiveness with the Course, my life was pretty sad and 8 years later (or 3 years ago) it turned into a nightmare. My only dream was to share a life with a loved one and now I have no hope for it. It's dead forever. I don't know the future but it's truly how I've been feeling for the last 3 years. This outside world is hopeless, success is built on others' failures and winners make losers. It will always be that way. We have to realize this to see the value of God's love I think. So, my only choice left is to join with Jesus. Still, my physical life is very lonely, I'm 39 and I've been single for 17 years now but I feel calm most of the time, my relationships are healthy and since last year, my dreams at night can be very profound and beautiful. That's where hope stands, in the mind with the Holy Spirit. Thank you David.

Loneliness is definitely an issue with the course. I don't personally know any course students. Acim is very unpopular where im from. And I don't want to go to study groups. I just want to hang out with acim students under normal conditions.

@@charlie29321 Just to be clear, I don't blame the course for my loneliness, it helps me to cope with it. The more I forgive, the more I feel empathy for everyone and the more I feel united. I would've been lonely anyway cause my body is on the wrong side of duality in too many ways... but hey, I wrote the script so I'll have to forgive myself for my sad life so I can hopefully leave in peace one day.

It's the 12-step program. The 12 steps of the hero's journey. The 12 labors of Hercules. The 12 archetypes, represented by the 12 tribes of Israel in the OT and the 12 apostles in the NT, even the 12 zodiacal signs. Im sure im missing some important 12's haha. Im curious if that 12 pattern manifests in ACIM at all. Trials and tribulations, as well as triumph, are associated with all of these in some form or fashion. My point is that studying the connection between all of those 12 patterns can give insight ACIM causing discomfort -- all part of the journey. Growth aint comfortable! Exaltation doesnt come without trials and hellish times. Have been experiencing my own personal hellish times recently, as i ran into a true fundamental by-the-book Christian (he renounces all denominations, follows "The Way") in the moddle of the woods, at night, at a "New Agey" music festival. It has incited an existential reckoning within me, as parts of my Christian upbringing are being unearthed. I am suddenly questioning if the Course is deception, whereas prior, I saw strongly how the Bible could easily be a product of the projections of man's ego consciousness. The question "IS the Bible the infallible Word of God?" has been in my mind a lot. I very clearly have hit a fork in the road. Despite an existential crisis, and regardless of which direction I go, I recognize that this is all part of the process and ultimately a very good thing -- it has caused me to research EVERYTHING more deeply, especially the Bible and its history. From both an apologist standpoint and a skeptic/neutral standpoint. My entire run with the Course thus far, I've supplemented it with Scripture, but because of this very strange "chance" encounter with a more classical Christian, I'm dissecting everything more deeply. It's uncomfortable being in this middleground existential position, but I know it is getting me to where I'm going. No matter which way I cut it, Atonement will ultimately prevail. "There has got to be a better way." as Helen said to Bill. I agree with Martine, I have felt worse since practicing The Course. It seems so dark compared to other teachings of awakening. Nisargadata just focused on "I am" for a few years and became self realized. Ramana Maharshi just thought he was dying (lol) and experienced self realization. Mooji's teachings of emptiness seem a lot lighter and he discusses pretend good and evil and consciousness is playing a game. For me, it's hard to reconcile that the world was created (by me) to cover up self hatred and guilt and have to live in the world at the same time. It seems pretty harsh. There has got to be a more loving approach to heal the mind. I don't know if I am interpreting the Course incorrectly or not, but it seems to me like it enhances the split by making the "ego" evil and the other part of the mind good. Is this a misunderstanding? This is what seems dualistic to me and what I struggle with.

Hi Misty, The "ego" was the error, and the right mind is the Correction, the forgiveness, the remembrance of the Light. Creation is eternal and only appears to be covered over by linear time-space perception (temporary images and symbols believed, fictitious, dualistic, passing). Saints and sages have experienced glimpses of Light. Self-realization requires deep and sustained devotion and commitment. Blessings, ~David

Yes, the course might seem to enhance a dualistic view. But instead it is just pointing out our! untrue believes we feed unconsciously about an illusionary dualism, so we can become conscious of them in order to forgive and not believe any longer in them and see everything as one, as I am.

(ACIM, W-in.1:1-4)" To reiterate: It is doing the exercises that will make the goal of the course possible. Someone in distress is far from peace, love, miracle. The indulgence in reaction, the conversion about any or all proof that distress is either justified or understandable, amounts to nothing more than validation of fear/ego. You got fear, you got distress, DO THE LESSONS. Anything else is a choice to strengthen ego and prolong fear, disease, separation. Simple as that. You don't "do the course", you do the lessons. Miracles are involuntary. No way to make them happen. Trying to make it happen , expectation for it to happen, is the illusion fostered by ego that it has some power. Ridiculous. Ego is not alive. It is not conscious. It has no life or power or consciousness. It is an outgrowth of the agreement that illusion/separation is real. You got pain, suffering, distress? Choose again.

I feel you, my life is also pretty empty. But even if everyone has a more exciting life, they're also in the desert, full of bitterness, trying to justify it by blaming others. They may realize their dreams, but they're made out of fear. We all share the same split mind. The Course helps me to forgive my sad life by recognizing that it's not real, that minds are joined, we're never alone. Learning to forgive is the biggest ambition there is, the only one that matters. Take care.

I’ve started and stopped the Course many times now. When I read this part of the Course and how things may be taken away my mind went straight to the thought of “What if my parents and brother are taken away from me because of me doing the lessons?” I have tremendous fear of losing them. This fear usually wins out in the end. I don’t know how to move past it and continue with the Course. 😢 Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. ❤

I talked to a lady once who I was ride share driving. She studied people "choice" making and the idea of free will. She said that a large % of choices that humans make are automatic choices for humans, conditioned responses from a "trained" subconcious mind. She said they were dectecting maybe 10% was "free will" or "free choice" oriented. So technically she said we have free will but it makes up a small % of our actual choices we make in this world. Which would explain a lot about this world and how it is conditioned.

Vacillating between a "ME" and just being, when i revert back into the "ME" it feels so awkward, so disfunctional, like wearing clothes that aren't in style or simply no longer fit, i find my self saying or doing something and theres a presents watching and saying thats not who you are thats not whst you meant to say or do, i sometimes feel like a emotional bull in a china shop can anyone relate to this experiencing, message in a bottle?

@@ravanti5780 from my understanding thus far. The actual whole being of which we are apart of is what Jesus was manifesting on earth, "The Christ". That is why the Lords prayer states "Thy Kingdom come Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven". So when we are seemingly in the ego part of our mind and listening to the ego voice in our heads, this is not our True Voice, the True Voice is still and quiet. Its as if this world was made as a veil to distract and create problems so we do not turn back to Love. Quite a perdicament if you ask me. But this is also why Jesus said you must Forgive everyone and everything in order to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. This also releases us from self imposed guilt and guilt we use to try and control others.

Is the darkness you are talking about is it our own grievance or attack thoughts on ourselves? You talk about giving up. Giving up what because it’s all a dream. I personally did a lot of work on myself before being exposed to the course. Could that have made a difference? I feel better not worse.❤
