Canobie Corkscrew (Front seat HD POV) - Canobie Lake Park

Canobie Corkscrew was an Arrow Dynamics corkscrew roller coaster, originally built in 1975 that operated at Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire from 1987. Sadly the ride was retired after the 2021 season. Video features off-ride footage and a full front seat HD POV filmed with permission of the park.

God what a great ride. I was a little nervous but I finally forced myself(or should I say a friend dragged me into it) to ride it yesterday for the first time, finally concurring my fear, along with Cannonball and Starblaster. And now this is my new favorite ride in the park!For anyone who’s contemplating trying it or not please just do it, and coming from someone like me that’s saying something. The drop is what freaked me out but it’s really nothing, especially if you sit in the front. Quick edit: came back from screamfest and Untamed is my new favorite ride, but this is an easy number 2.

B D you should, it’s a very tame ride. My first upsidown coaster was Rockin Rollercoaster at Hollywood Studios so this was nothing compared to it. It’s kind of a weird feeling going upsidown but you get used to it. I did this ride four times in a row because I liked it so much😂

Same here. 1977 or so. I was probably about 12 or 13. I was petrified but all my family and friends were going on it and I had to go or couldn't look in mirror. I was complete wuss. I remember it taking my breath away the first drop where I couldn't yell. Once ride was over I realized it wasn't too bad I was hooked on rollercoasters rest of my Life.

But for me since I always been in Houston all my life and without astroworld for so long and never travelled to any amusement parks that I saw on tv shows or In books! They never did figure out how to build that transition into the corkscrew. It dumps you on your right side way too early, then jerks you left up into the screw.

Indeed - and the only smooth coaster I have ridden with corkscrews is the one in Korea which takes the corkscrews at a higher speed (and it works perfectly) and does the vertical loops afterwards!

The Vekoma corkscew in Vancouver is better than any Arrow.

I get why that one is so good: They weren't trying to save space and get the train back to the station with minimal track length, so they had room for a good transition.

I think that it was also the first indoor looping coaster. This used to be the "Chicago Loop" when it was at Old Chicago back in the day. That place was seriously cursed.

Like I regret not going on this coaster when I had the chance because it’s already removed, Wicked Cyclone at Six Flags New England has a lap bar which freaks me out because it loops, however the Corkscrew has a different bar which you feel safe in...

Most looping coasters are totally safe with just lapbars as the g-forces are usually sufficient to hold you in your seat

I find most Arrow track transitions intriguing. I mean, bumpy or jerky - which term do you think is good to describe their products? This time, wow, I just need to say thanks a million (I have such a feeling!) for posting plenty of videos. Yours make me happy even after one "sad" news. Personal stuff, I know, but I'll tell you. My name on KZbin has to be Kiddie C. now (not "Space Mountain" anymore) because my 12 year-old computer suddenly died like "Snap!" about a week ago. I'm using an android tablet instead - I just have to do so. :'( However coasters are part of my life! I appreciate you, David or my all-time favorite person. :') Hopefully you'll read this. :-)

Regarding Arrow, yes, bumpy could describe them, although some would argue that rough is a more suitable word!
