Seeing an unedited video is calmly and easier to follow. I always hear the information but get "distracted" by edits This form of story telling is still keeping my attention because of the "tricks" he uses, a subscriber should easily point out which tricks! Did you find them all? Amazing to watch would definitely like to see it more often! You are a public speaker not a editor 🤟

Storytelling is such a powerful tool, and I’m extremely happy or see you share its story with people. Humans have always been storytellers, that’s how we create bonds, share history, inform and grow. I’ve used it every day since I knew how to read and talk, for every purpose, but we all know that with great power comes great responsibility. Thank you for being such a great gift, David!

Oh cool the significant object study, I heard about this one! Really underlines the importance of a story to convince others. In university I heard a similar thing during my economics class, people sold two identical cakes (one for a low price and another for a high price). People instantly thought that the high price one was better, they were making stories up in their head as to why the other one would be valued more. Can't find the study anymore though.. If possible could you do a video on job interviews, those are nerve-racking for just about everyone and would love to hear some advice/tips from you on this.

When he said you tell stories every day in your head, I started to cry a little. I love the thought of creating stories; every night when I go to sleep, I'll start to subconsciously make up stories in my head then drift off to sleep. Later the next day would look forward to going to bed just to continue what happens next. I do think of stories of myself too, I just need to execute the one I started with. I'm assuming why I cried a little is because care for the stories I made, I'm just scared to put them out there.

I would love to be a better storyteller and speaker. I think I’ve had a pretty interesting life. Woman Marine vet and now I’m a lineman. I’m just a quiet, reserved person so it’s hard to get out of that mindset. My husband however is awesome at it. A perfect mix of humor, extremely quick witted (I’m so in awe of that), people gravitate towards him and he can pull in a crowd at parties. He’s a natural at it.

I for one love unedited videos but there is the lack of visual presentation, these videos with no editing are easy to make and really enjoyable but might not have the rhythm our minds like to experience. Not all people can express their thoughts like David, he mastered his soul and brain to an extent where he can tell you to subscribe and you won't hesitate a fraction of a second to do so, skills 100 as some gamers may say 😂 Seriously though, I prefer to see him as he is but some subscribers are impatient and wait for there chance to pick up some of his errors (extremely flawless David 😍) and show their success by displaying others' mistakes.

fine for products - but I was devastated to hear him recommend presenting a story version of us to our friends or partners - explicitly saying "they will never know who you truly are". In my experience, it's one of the most damaging things to anyone's happiness to hide who you are and for other people not to "see" you. It's what makes us human. True connection, being seen. And not looking back at our lives as a hollow shell of a storied product. A truly happy life requires that we drop the stories about ourselves. Yes that can be vulnerable and less "sexy" = less sales. But do I want people to buy a made-up plastic version (of not myself), or for us to connect with our hearts?

Great performance! I read a study from Denmark that lead the researchers to the hypothesis that storytelling may be very effective at preaching to the converted (polarization so to say) but less effective at actually convincing an opposition. Any thoughts on that? Any studies that you know of that support or object this hypothesis?

I'd believe it's always harder to turn the opposition irrespective of the technique you use. So they are most likely right 👍

@@DavidJPPhillips True, but they also observed that debaters with a more sober and fact based approach seem to be more succesfull at convincing the opposition than those using storytelling. Obviously, there are lots of questions to be asked about the definition of storytelling and sober argumentation, and also they didn't have vast amounts of empirical data, yet this is a very interesting observation I think. Their hypothesis is that you should distinguish between rhetoric which "collects votes" (which storytelling is very good at) and rhetoric which "moves votes" (which sober argumentation is very good at).

How in the FUCK isn't your channel in the millions of subs?? This is prolly the most powerful video on advertising using stories ever. Mostly cause it's one of the only ones I've seen but I've always known storytelling was powerful, but not this fucking powerful what the fuck? LOL
