I am staying in District 2 for the last 3 months, covering everything from food, transportation, housing, utilities and daily trip to bars for 2-3 beers, sometimes a bottle of whiskey. Pay about 2500 USD a month. I don't pay for gym membership since the place I stay in has a gym on the second floor. The food I normally eat is from a normal restaurant to high-end and sometimes buffet. My place is a 2 bedroom, about 100m2, fully furnished, had the owner converted one of the room into an office space. I also use Grab but only pick cars since I am a big dude and most motorbike Grab will have issues driving me around. Had to sign a 1 year lease for my condo, paying 1200 USD a month for it. I pay for health insurance which is around 40 USD a month, covers, everything including hospital stays in private international hospitals. I am paying on the high end but it's more of a western living standard but seen people with no issues budgeting about 2000 USD a month for a smaller housing accommodation..

@user-hp1gn5mg7c11 ай бұрын
@@creationsofmindRS I don't think you will have any issues with 2500 a month, most 2-3 bedrooms cost between 800-1200 a month. Cost will heavily depend on the area you will live for example; District 7 is cheaper but further away, district 1/2/3/4 will be closer to the central area of the city. There is also near the airport area, which is also cheap. Not sure about school fees but suggest you take a look at the local international private schools available in the area. You might need to factor in the school fees for you kid. If you don't need to stay in Ho Chi Minh city for work, suggest you look into Da Nang.

Since I am not in VN for women, I don't need to pay for that, I am married. If that's your thing, then expect to pay a lot for that. If you stay outside of HCM city like in Da Nang, expect to pay less, that's where I would recommend if you don't need to stay in HCM city.

David, from that summary of monthly $, probably safe to say it'd be average slightly lower scale of comfort living at $700/mo usd to higher end of $1200-$1500/mo depending mostly on rent that's spent - sure you can have a 2-3br in a high-rise luxury place in a prime location for double/triple that, like the place you were 'in' initially, but normal comfortable total could be as low as $1000 to $1300/mo with all western amenities and expenses, not including any vehicle purchase/insurance/licensing and taxes, medical insurance/travel fees to-from other side trips or day vacations or walkabouts you take, plus the entertainment fees of tourist-type or even historic sites you visit, and normal fees to enter parks, special events, show, alcohol and bar-type places you go, or boat/jet-ski/bicycle/horse/elephant/amusement park type rides either. So non-splurging total probably a minimum of $1350-$1500/mo lower middle end actual cost being practical and real. Still way cheaper than the cost of Aussie/USA/Europe living expense, and a heck of a lot more fun seeing it in a much different culture's less stressful healthier light rather than our western-styled gluttonous-needy-equal or outdo the neighbor type unhealthy lifestyle many of us have and live. Many will disagree with me, but this just is my jaded opinion.

$500 would be very tight but the local vietnamese can so it is possible... ideally $1000 or above would give a more western level cost of living... anything over $2000 would be very comfortable quality of life over there... My mortgage for a 6-bedroom 3.5-bath in a suburb south of DC was $1300 including mortgage insurance. And I was making $196k the last year I had a mortgage in 2023. There is no way regular Viet people can afford these places and only tourists without local families get stuck with these accommodations. I stay for free whenever I am back and often time, my daily expensed are paid for by relatives. Now, my wife, on the other hand, spends about $2k per month whenever she visits without me and got nothing to show for.

That was so sad that she has to hustle to get food. 😢 Why are the elders not protected from poverty? At the same time, if you show you have a lot of money, you might be taken advantage of. Poverty is so real in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines. 😢😢😢 The common community is not living lavish, and the apartment you are in, in this video, was decent even by my high standards. I get the impression that apartment is opulence for some of them. I am in the US, 4 generations, not from Ohio (thank gawd) and only here because my mother retired here. She's got Dementia now and in a nursing home. Ohio’s nursing homes are awful. As soon as she passes away, I will leave the country for good. Living in Ohio makes me hate this entire country now. And I was proud to be from NYC. I have traveled in and out of the country before 2016. I officially have PTSD from living here plus Trump's racism agenda across the country. The people here are 🤬🤬🤬 not all very kind. 😢 So I'm watching KZbin videos to see where I can live the rest of my life in a safe country that has strict gun laws, or no guns allowed, healthy food with no chemicals in them, etc. Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Switzerland, Denmark are possibilities. I'm considering moving back to Japan, I lived there for 4y when I was in the military. I vacationed in St. Martin. I've been to Canada butbits turning into the U.S. in politics and behaviors 😢. I can afford to live off $3,500.00 a month. I'm just looking for a place where i can live without compromising my health and safety. Are utilities included in the rent's in Vietnam? What is the crime rate? Does the whole country speak English? If not, where do they mostly speak English? Where are the safe places? Please let me know. Thank you 😊
@davidkhai5 ай бұрын
For long term rental the utilities are generally not included, you’d most likely have to pay separately. Crime rate is relatively low, petty theft is what’d you’d have to keep an eye on. (I.e bag snatching but as ling as you’re alert you’ll be fine) English in the large cities like Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hanoi. Basically all the major cities especially with the youth, but it will be little to no English generally elsewhere. I find every where is relatively safe, but if I were to live in a city it’d have to be Da Nang, Nha Trang or Ho chi minh city
