Two must-have items that you didn't list are; 1 - the X3 Sticky Lens guards to keep those pretty lenses scratch free, and 2 - a clamp mount like the ULANZI Super Clamp Camera Clamp Mount. This mount allows you to clamp onto railings, handlebars, poles, boards, etc. and adds a lot of mounting options for your camera. Amazon sells one with a 1/4-20 ball head adaptor for about $20.

@@r00kiet80i have not tried the lense protectors, however, the X3 has a setting in post editing that allows you to choose a lense guard setting, that “claims” to get rid of those lense distortions in your videos

1) You blew my mind with the tripod feet. I’ve had it for MONTHS and had no clue it did that. 2) Ulanzi makes a quick release system called the Hummingbird. SUPER convenient when going from mount to mount, especially when using the Ulanzi mount for the wireless go. Having to fiddle with it each time you change mounts get annoying real fast..

I'm for them when you know your camera is in real danger of being dropped or getting hit. I use them a lot out at the desert to film dune buggies. I know the sand is going to blast those lenses, so I stick them on there for things like that👍

The Insta360 version is pretty awesome as well, but the Falcam system has a bit more versatility as far as the amount of accessories they have for it. I use it on all of my big cameras as well. Both are super solid though!

Great info. Do you happen to know if the dive kit bundle they are offering right now includes a battery? I'm not seeing that it does. Also, when you plug that external quick reader into your phone does all the footage then go into your phone or can you pick and choose what does and will it still stay on the SD card if you want it to? What do you recommend to protect the lenses while filming? I know they offer the sticky covers but they still show in footage right?

Holy God, this is so much and I love it all. I’m really going to go heavy come 2024 with the new iPhone Pro, Rode Wireless Pro, probably a version of the Smooth gimbal, and the X3 for my off-roading/overlanding and hiking videos. I need a 360 in car camera, I need stable footage on off terrain (hiking or off roading) and I need the freedom to hook up a wireless mic system for me and my wife. Falcon… nice! Can’t wait to see what you do with all the new stuff coming out because the new gear and outdoor potentials just got bigger

Great video again David, I must admit, the quick release isn't something I even thought of, but will be looking into straight away. I've been hunting for the best suction cups for doing external 3rd person car shots and I'll see if I can get the falcam ones here in Scotland. I use RAM mounts for a lot of my gear as I used to work on military sites designing and deploying sonar technology and everything from RAM mounts was great at holding up against the harsh seas. Camera mounts to Laptop mounting gear, I've put my faith in their stuff quite a bit over the years. Another pole mount I like is the longer fixed position carbon fibre poles. Just really good for car stuff I do too be honest, wouldn't be sure where you could use it anywhere else. I just need it for the rigidity it provides while going at high speeds.

Love me some RAM mounts! Those things are super solid! As for the solid carbon fiber poles, they’re for sure the most ideal for longer pole mount setups because they don’t bow at all or sway as much. I just tend not to use them because they’re harder to pack along for an adventure. Perfect for car mounts though!

Yep, the built in mics are still really good, but like all action cameras, doesn't do well in windy conditions. That's where the external mics come in👍

i lost the barrel nut for the bike mount (the round nut that holds the long screw so you can clamp to the handlebar). Insta360 refuses to provide help on replacement (by refuse, i mean, they say to buy a new bike mount). any idea on sourcing such items? i'm not even sure what size the screw is. thanks.

I love quick-release as much as anyone (also have large mirrorless cameras) but every join you have in the loop weakens the hold overall. Perhaps not noticably, depending on the usage, but try mounting a quick-release on a ground-mounted tripod, eg. even quality ball-heads designed for heavier mirrorless cameras, will not stand *perfectly* upright and motion-free with an X3 at the top of a 3m extended stick. More important than fast release is minimizing sway.

That’s a solid reason to go for the F22 system over some other quick releases out there. The tolerances on the F22 are tight, so there’s almost no movement when locked in👍

Great video! Really wanting to pull the trigger on the X3 but those lenses and how sensitive they are is worrying me. I’ve also heard there warranty/care isn’t that good to help cover it. I’ve always had GoPro but these shots looks so much nicer. Are the lenses really something I need to worry about?

It’s specific to the X3 if you’re trying to mount it to the side of the camera, but if you use it like I do, you can take the SD card from either of your cameras, pop them in the reader, then plug that into your iPhone👍

For the F22 quick release system, did you get the one specifically for Insta360, or did you get the generic F22 QR system?

I would add a ground stake/spike to the list! You can buy them but I'm cheap so I ground down an old screwdriver to a point and epoxied a 1/4 20 threaded rod to the handle end. To me it's just so convenient to screw the selfie stick to it and stick it in the dirt, grass, or even cracks in wood, rocks, or busted up concrete and the 360 cameras are very forgiving when the angle isn't exactly straight up and down.

I also bougth the remote control with GPS tagging which is very useful for my use on motorcycle. It can be mounted on the handle bars to start stop camera whilst driving without loosing focus on traffic. Also useful for other applications with the 3m selfie stick for example.

That's super tricky! I would think that a stick on sort of mount would be the best option, but for sure put a little safety leash on there attached to a mounting point on the board to make sure that if the sticky mount fails it stays attached👍

Snap mounts are incredible and still my favorite GoPro mount solution. But the X3 doesn’t really fit in them well. For the X3, the Falcam f22 system is incredible🙌

There IS a DJI specific receiver mount available for the X3 now. Its 3D printed, so probably isn't as strong as the Insta360 product, but it IS fully invisible. Its called the Xmount 360

I'd add some kind of super clamp (maybe the smaller Smallrig version) as another good addition, especially for things the suction cup won't work on, as well as an alternative for mounting on a bike/motorcycle/autogyro.

Super clamps are super useful! I use them for a ton of other mounts, but for some reason haven’t used them much with the Insta360. I’ll get testing with it though, seems like it would be ideal!

I’m just about to start out in the action camera scene. I’m mainly going to use it in my jetski and boat. Although I can get awesome shots with the X3, I’m wondering if I should start out with the GoPro? I mainly worry about the ruggedness and the ability to add a float case, like I can for the GoPro. But the shots would likely be cooler with the X3! This is a hard decision!

Good video. On accessor I would never use (not slagging your video) is the quick reader. I don't edit on a phone. I edit on a PC or Mac. The Quick Reader is an Android/iPhone accessory only. David was clear it was phone only but not part of my workflow. The Falcam F22 Quick Release Plate look sweet.

also had the 360 live on top of the standard selfie stick forever but then I discovered the power selfie stick - approx same form factor as the standard but with button controls and a built-in back-up battery - only drawback was that the USB-C cable between the stick and camera was just too short when a instant release mount is also fitted - got a slightly longer cable from my local computer shop

I bought the 9 and 1/2 ft carbon fiber stick and took it to the Bahamas 2 weeks ago and it failed after 2 days of use. Could be the saltwater 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve got all the pieces, and some 2 part epoxy, I’m going to see if I can do a better glue job this time. Salt water is the enemy of all things metal/plastic. As soon as I’m out of the water, I fresh water rinse all of my gear immediately. Salt is BRUTAL!
