The overheating was the most annoying thing in OA1, as well as that it doesnt work as a webcam after pluging through usb c to the PC, does this one works as a webcam?

I wish these reviews would touch on the photography aspects of the camera. I loved the photos the original Osmo would take. It could take raw photos without fisheye distortion and GoPro‘s can’t do that. It also had auto exposure bracketing which was sick! GoPros don’t do that either. So I’m wondering what the new camera can do.

I know a lot of people ripped on the osmo action 2 but it’s been my fav action cam ever made. Mostly for its light size for the camera. I fly FPV and the fact that I can fly such a light camera and it’s as wide as it is, super impressive. Never dealt with overhearing issues. Wish they would make 2 categories just like GoPro is doing.

We don't know if they will. Maybe they had enough to inovate the old model, but not enough for the action 2 model. For all we know action 4 might be an improvement on the action 2 design.

Good video. Ordered the DJI Osmo Action 3 Adventure combo Friday just gone. I'd love to get the DJI wireless mic, but DJI New Zealand sell it for NZ$699. So I'll have to wait another 2 weeks before I've got money to buy it. You can't escape that wind noise, so good to get it.

Thanks, you showed the gotchas to know before buying.. things like the selfie stick feature isnt out, and required a high contrast background (snow) and a cage is required for portrait. Now to watch the hero11 videos for comparison haha. How secure is that wireless mic where its just held on by USB-C?

Hello, thx for another awesome video. Have you tried to freeze the cam down before turning it on? Because gopro actually runs pretty well when you start recording at warm conditions and then changes to cold. But it realy s..cks when you are trying to start recording while the cam/battery is already cold. Best sample when the camera or battery is in the bag in winter.

WoWsa wowsa! I just ordered the insta 360 x3 and now i see this osmo action 3 which compels me to go and buy because of your review. As always your review covers all the specs from the buyer/user specs perspective. Not sure if you mentioned the mimo app which allows you to still view while recording vs gopro quick app which removed the access from hero8 or hero9 release. GoPro 11 and other GoPro don’t overheat if you have the screen go off after 1min, GPS turned off etc just like that camera is actually doing just GoPro by default has too many things going on so it’s goto overheat tho depending on the conditions may not like riding against a cold windy summer day

Question on the DJI Mic. How well do you think the USB C would stay in the camera if I have the Action 3 attached to my chest strap while bombing down really chunky rocks on a Mountain Bike. My current set up is the GoPro Hero 10 with DJI mic and it doesn't move because of the shoe.

How about low light, heavy 'crud' turbidity conditions? Trying to capture "grazers" eating eel / ribbon grass in tannin stained river as sun light changes daily .. which works better?

That would be incredible to have that all integrated, but for now, this setup with the mics if for sure the slickest audio kit for an action camera. I'll probably still run my F2-BT with lav because I'm a glutton for punishment and having to sync in post, but for a quick go to, it's pretty rad to have the wireless setup!

@@DavidManningvlog Thx for the reply David. My concern is I shoot a lot of POV with a chest mount for MTBing, and having the receiver clipped into the side of the camera would probably just fall out. Even if they had to make the body a little bigger to include the receiver it would be a game changer IMO.

HEY DAVID! Biggest issue I have with Osmo V1 is the lack of ability to adjust mic gain levels when using a Lav. Have you tested the older 3.5 mic in on the New model or anything similar with a wired Lav? Thanks and love your format, Well done.

I blame you and DC Rainmaker for making me buy the Action 3. I mean THANKS 😁 I have only been playing with it a little bit but I love what this camera produces. Very nice videos with not too much noise, even when filming indoors in sub-optimal lighting conditions. The image stabilization works great and even with high speed horizontal panning but what I really like are the magnetic mount, which makes it much easier to remove the camera, and the battery case/charger. I think these features are very nice compared to the GoPro.

I guess the "skiing and snowboarding stick blending" feature not being available for skateboarding has to do with the fact that while in the mountains you have much less color variations than in the streets of a city. still a cool feature
