Thanks for sharing. I’m getting this for my husband for his birthday. Just bought the ice barrel 500 using your code. Used your links for the diy kit on Amazon 1/2 hp chiller. Hopefully he likes his birthday gift. He’s been cold plunging using a Rubbermaid tub and ice. It’s been getting warmer and he’s been disappointed in the temp of the water. It’s been difficult to get it below 55. So excited to surprise him.

Thanks for your great content, Dave! Love it. Hits home if you know what I mean. I'm in Southeast FL, so I get the concerns for running something outside in pretty extreme temps!😉 I just ordered the ib500 for the safety feel to aid the mrs. into enjoying the plunge. Looks sturdy👍 I'm still debating the pump and chiller. You pulled me to the 1/2hpaa model to pair. Almost thought that 1/4hp might do it (because insulation value)..then figured, "florida😂" and decided, better double it! 😏🤣🤣🤙 Thoughts?? 🤔

I think the 500 model should have the inner seat/shelf. Just not so big… like more of a slight step.

Great video. Cold plunged one time in Norway but not since. I am 52 and do Jiu Jitsu. I’m guessing this would be great for recovery especially past ACL reconstruction.

Its 93 gallons versus 77 gallons on the 400. He recommended 1/2 HP for the 400 and I can't imagine a 16 gallon difference would change that

Love the reviews and your transparency. Regarding the chiller, yes it is a one time expense, but what about the electric bill? Do you notice a difference on your electric by having the chiller on regularly, if not always? Btw, I’m also in FL, hence the question. I feel like I’ll need to have the chiller on all the time.

With a chiller, how long does it take to raise or lower temps if you had different people using it. Also chiller capability range of temps high and low? Definitely appreciate the discount code, but does ice barrel have sales throughout the year?

Torn between the IB500, Modtub, or waiting a month or two for the larger 450 Grizzly cooler and DIY a supersize mod tub clone. 6'4" 350 (and shrinking) currently using the 150 rubbermaid tank with ambient temp keeping it cool but I'm also in brutal south heat and humidity most of the year so I think I'll get better performance and efficiency going with one of these more insulated models than I would DIY building up the rubbermaid. Definitely a big investment so need to figure out best path forward. Leaning towards some version of grizzly cooler, think it might have the better insulation

Both are great options. The IB500 will hold your temps well and comes ready to go. If you go with ModTub or any of the Grizzly styles you will also be happy and they are totally different styles. The 500 is a seated/upright position, the Grizzly is laying down. Both are great options so it comes down to your style preference.

This ice barrel looks pretty sweet. But for 1500 dollars I'd expect more then just a plastic tub. The spend another 1000 plus for a chiller. Might not be as worth it as you would think

It doesnt come with one but the lid is pretty heavy, not easy to move for a kid or wind.

Hey David, does the insulation differ at all between the 300 and 500? For example, are the insulated walls any thicker in the 500 or the 300? Or does the 500 simply have the "most" insulation of any ice barrel product because it's bigger? Thanks!

Still no review of the chiller?? I'm sure Ice Barrel has chillers in the warehouse that they would provide you for review purposes, considering you're such a fan. Have say that if you're a DIY guy, freezers are the way to go, even though you're not a fan. ModTub and Desert Plunge fit the 3K price point perfectly and are reasonably priced. Ice Barrel is w/o a doubt over priced for a plastic insulated barrel and some mysterious chiller that has a 90 day lead time with NO published spec's. How can you till be so enthused to push this company.

It’d be simple for them to make a removable bench in the 300 and 500, they should do that. Then you can use bench if desired or take advantage of the extra room.

I’m pretty committed to buying the Ice Barrel 500. I live in Florida too, so the insulation and safety aspect was what won me over. the ease of entry and energy efficiency is great. I Have little ones and family that’s only getting older seems all this seems to make sense. My big question is what chiller do you recommend. Probably going to have 100 degree days this summer. I know ice barrel is coming out with their own chiller. Is this something I’ll wanna wait for and just purchase ice in the mean time? Or should I just get a chiller now and enjoy? If so What do you recommend?

Have you tested the insulation of the 300 and 500 to see if the 500 stays colder longer? I'm just wondering if it's worth it for the extra insulation, or if it's more of a difference in size. If it does stay cooler longer, I'm really curious how much longer. And also between this and the Grizzley style, or any of the cold plunges for that matter, which stays cooler longer? I appreciate the thoughts!

David, thanks, we have been plunging for 2.5 months now and it will be a part of our lives from now on. So, needing a permanent solution, we used your videos to make the ultimate decision of buying the Icetub 300 (with your code) and I was about to pull the trigger on the amazon DIY chiller kit from your links BUT, then I went back to your videos on ICE UP and I was wondering which all in one chiller/pump/filter/etc you have found to be the most reliable (if any)? I don't like the idea of all the individual components and I was already thinking about how to house everything from the amazon kit onto a rolling cart or something and then it dawned on me that the ICE UP is basically that. I would REALLY appreciate your thoughts and advice! Thanks!

Expensive. You could get the 300l beautifull wooden barrel for 300$ compared to the 1200$ asked. Then get water fill cycle + ice for 10 years with the difference of price !

I own the 400 and bought the 500. The 500 was delivered a few weeks ago. Leaky spout - very disappointed. Sent in a video to their warranty team and still don't have a resolution. I have had to chase them to get my emails responded to and it's been 9 days since my last email was sent - no response. I'm very disappointed in the product and the (lack of) customer support.
