I would estimate torque loss by 10 ft-lbs per inch on an adapter or extension. An adapter like that is probably only losing 5 ft-lbs at most

Coming from a maintenance field, I do use my Milwaukee m18 Mid torque a lot, I have the standard fuel model 2860, thing is a beast. And no issue in tight spaces. Personally the only thing I use auto mode for is putting something in quick. But with the variable trigger any mode ca do that too if you have the feel for it. I personally have used the DEWALT and perfect the hog ring vs pin detention. Also yes using an adapter. Even the shallow one will result in some torque loss, might be less but it will reduce the torque.

@@ManCaverTools what is the purpose of doing these tests if that is your attitude about the results? I dont mean to be a dick, but you really come off as clueless sometimes. Take this as constructive criticism, but every time i accidentally end up on one of your videos i get the feeling that people only watch these because they enjoy the pretty colors in the intro. Your content has no real substance. You put in a couple of screws on a timer and talk about how good it feels in your hand, and when you attempt to actually take them apart, you look clueless, like a bootlegged cross between Ave and Project Farms, who never uses one of his pristine tools outside of a video. I am a huge fan of both Dewalt and Milwaukee brands. I have a huge Dewalt collection of tools in the 18v to 54v range and a couple in the 10v range. My Milwaukee collection is all in the 12V range and I love their smaller tool systems, especially their soldering iron. They have a great lower voltage range that Dewalt simply don't manufacture. One of the big benefits of Dewalt is their flexvolt range... never liked the 18v circular saws in any brand but the 54/60v Flexvolt range is a different beast altogether! Be it Saws, grinders, table saws, blowers, whipper snipper .... just awesome. I guess my only beef with your video is that you are wearing a Milwaukee jacket (don't get me wrong here.... I have several from wind cheater heated to work jacket heated but also have a Dewalt Jacket that is twice as warm .... have not even needed to use the battery heating power function!.....) and you are also wearing the Milwaukee gloves. Mate, if you are going to do a video, selling us on your credentials that you are open to any results regardless of brand, please don't wear branded clothing that "happens" to coincide with the winning tool brand on the specific test you are doing. In Australia, we call that a crapola moment!!!!! ...... credibility out the proverbial window and back down shit creek! Sorry but the small and big shit all matters!!! Other than that, thanks for the video! Greg

I think overall that your test was fair, and I assumed from the start that the Milwaukee was more powerful, as the hammer-housing looks bigger. For the sake of variation you should consider driving fasteners into material with less variables like plywood or osb. You could make a sandwich to increase the thickness. I have the DCF894, and have still not figured out if I'm content with it. I've used it on several cars, and have experienced that it has not had enough torque to loosen the wheel-nuts, along with other bolts too that should be within the range. When it did not have enough torque it was just barely too weak. I've used it both with 6ah flex and 5ah. When it comes to especially impact drivers I am skeptical about torque-ratings. It seems to always be less then what it is advertised for. Another thing with torque is how long it takes to reach it. I have torqued my Bosch GDX-200 impact driver to 205 nm, but I was putting down torque over like 10 seconds. If it takes 10 seconds to reach promised torque, I'd say the real torque more like 150-170.

In my opinion comparison or test videos should not be done using adapter sockets period. There is torque loss and especially when you had them double stacked. The dewalt had the advantage but the Milwaukee still outdid it but it was at a disadvantage with the adapter. I would either get the correct socket or not do the testing at all.
@Dale37
@Dale37 3 жыл бұрын
These tests aren't even that close, so the adapter isn't even a concern. If both tools shown were running into situations where the results were a near tie then I say redo with a proper half inch drive anvil on the Milwaukee.

Are you sure that newer 6ah flexvolt with the newer style sticker is 21700 cells? I no the older 6ah are not. Is that newer 6ah the same size as a 9ah? The 20v only 6ah is 21700 cells but the flexvolt 6ah is 18650 at least with the older battery. Either way in this test the milwaukee would still win. I dont see it being possible that the 6ah is 21700 unless its jus as big as a 9ah which it probably isnt

so why are you comparing a 3/8 impact to a 1/2 inch? milwaukee still kicked its ass but why not compare apples to apples? what am i missing? 2861-20 is what you should have compared it to IMO. still this one spanked the dewalt, i like both tool lines. but in some instances milwaukee for the price cannot be beat.

@@ManCaverTools actually that's not correct, the 1/2 inch has 50 ft lbs (650) over the 3/8 (600). Look at the spec sheet for both. 1/2 inch is the way to go and leave the 3/8 for that sweet stubby.

Agree with some other comments. But you only have to look at the specs to know that Milwaukee wins in power in most tools (almost always). Not test necessary... I'm most interested in the other attributes like weight, ergonomics, price, that's why I like a perspective on the tools. Like: Is the Dewalt still worth it? I will still like watch the videos keep them coming Dave! Those are just some constructive ideas.

As stated already, these big lags split wood. So drilling directly next to the first bolt or even hole on this well abused log is an advantage. You should have drilled in a completely fresh log and away from each other. Good video otherwise though.
